We drove from Cleveland with the specific goal of visiting this museum. Upon arrival, we had the woman at the desk argue with us about the price of our under 18 Son's ticket price (it's $5 less than an adult ticket and it was emblazoned on digital billboards right behind her head). She didn't believe us or the billboard and had to call her manager over to confirm that...we were right!!! She failed to give us trolley tickets that come with paid admission. When it came time to board the trolley, two of the conductors told us that it was ok and one said "No it's not. You must have tickets." (by the way, this is the same guy chiding a 2-year old on the trolley for crying). There was a preschool program there and while we had to go back inside and procure tickets, we lost our spot as first on and had to board last. The trolley ride was nice, the trolley barn was nice. The saving grace of the trip was the gentleman inside of the trolley barn. He was awesome, kind, and knowledgeable. I wouldn't drive more than 30 minutes to visit...
Read moreIts grown since I've been there as a kid but the lack of safety and professionalism here is why my rating is so low. There is two trolleys you get to ride a super old one and a newer 1940s style. The first one was the newer one where we nearly got plowed off the track by a dump truck at the Jenky crossing they had set up. Then the older trolley that took us to the warehouse where most of the trolleys were. This conductor/driver that went by CJ was incredibly unprofessional. Talking about dying loudly on the trolley infront of a bunch of kids and their families thinking its funny? After getting us there the tour guide went on to a informative tour. While our tour was going on CJ just stood in the old static trolleys while the tour guide went on and just stared at everyone from the inside of the trolleys. Like once is funny but this guy went into every one and just stood super creepy looking/acting. Pictured below. Its $12 a person I felt like I got my moneys worth but felt rather unsafe after...
Read moreCame here once and had to get the membership because we knew we'd be back. Pays for itself pretty immediately. My toddler absolutely loves just running in circles, ringing the bell and climbing in the cars and playing with the little train sets.. and of course, riding the moving trolley! They recently opened a brand new building with nice exhibits and an event space that can be rented for parties.
Editing to add that the new building is so so nice. There's a water bottle fountain, bathroom is nice and clean and has a basket of tampons.. There's also a nursing/baby changing room that has everything you could need for the little one, including a rocking chair, sink, breast milk bags, wipes, small bottles of water/juice, and some little snacks in the drawers! Wow!! It honestly brought a tear to my eye because most places in Pittsburgh don't even have changing tables. It's been such a struggle to have a little one, so it's so nice to see all of these accommodations. A mom definitely set this room...
