Beautiful place for an easy hike. Dirt service road extends about 2 miles from the Drakes Branch trailhead before coming to the Roanoke Creek. I believe the trail continues beyond the creek, but the day I went the creek was flooded and impassable due to recent rain. Excellent forest and field habitats with wide variety of flora, birds, and insects. Picturesque old buildings also add to the beauty of this special place.

I have been looking for a nice trail to take my kids and dogs for a walk. Unfortunately, this trail was not it. It hasn't been maintained in awhile. Tall grass throughout the whole trail. Several widow makers above trail as well. Not really stroller friendly either. We found ticks all over us after our walk. I also ended up getting chiggers. I am so glad we decided not to bring our dogs with us. We will most definitely NOT be...

Turn off the main road onto a narrow dirt road / 1/10 of a mile to gravel parking lot. Tall grass path leads to woods and past old structures. Nice secluded area but beware of ticks / we pulled at least 6 off our dog and...
