Went to the winery on a girls trip and rented the treehouse. The outdoor patio chairs have cushions that are just laid out and don’t fit the furniture. Cushions are very stained and uncomfortable. Great patio but not well taken care of. It has gone hill the last two years. We also stayed at the treehouse which was $245 a night. Other wineries have guests that give complimentary tastings or at least wine in the accommodations. We thought the treehouse would be fun but it wound up being terrible. There were no sheets in the pull out bed that was very old and uncomfortable. The bedding downstairs, including the pillows smelled and were stained badly. We had to use towels to put in the bed for sheets. There was dirt on the floors and behind the upstairs bed along with dead bugs. There is a cramped corner with a bunch of small appliances that are non working. The treehouse was not clean and all throw pillows were just dirty and stained. Very disappointed. We also never got the email with check in instructions. The internet password also did not work. No amenities and outdated pictures online. So we spent a total of roughly $400. Such a waste. Couldn’t be wait to leave. That winery and treehouse could be a gem with some love and elbow grease. Gave two stars because the girl working was fantastic and the dreamcatcher wine and...
Read moreTourist attraction is the appropriate term. Very crowded and noisy with people. They had some fire pits which was nice but for the days temperature, they needed more. There was a musician playing kind of towards the front of the seating areas and the music was very loud. There was wine tasting but there were 2 girls serving at the counter. But people were lined up to get their tasting so it was a rushed procedure. We went to the bathroom first. They had 2 indoor restrooms but one was taken up with a group of women attending a private bridal event. There was a sign on the bathroom doors directing bathroom overflow to portable toilet facilities outside. There had displays of the typical wine related items for sale but there were more than usual and took up space that could have been used for more seating. It was not intimate. It was not quiet. There was no way we could enjoy the wine tasting experience in such a setting. We like to learn about the wine, the vintners, the vineyard history, etc. This was not the wine experience we were looking for. We don't usually go to tourist type things on a weekend and this winery was such a negative experience that we will not even try to go back...
Read moreMy boyfriend surprised me with a weekend in Blue Ridge that incorporated a Saturday tour of Bear Claw. When we first arrived, we were greeted with an incredible blues guitar live performance out on the patio and smiling faces behind the registers. We enjoyed wine and music before being escorted into the back where we were lucky enough to get a private tour with one other couple.
Mick quickly made us realize that we were not about to be a part of your typical “stuffy” wine tour. She’s a salt of-the-earth, hardworking, no BS kind of woman and her story of how she came to create Bear Claw is inspiring. The message she wanted you to walk away with? Never settle!
We drank her fabulous, never artificially sweetened wine. We walked with her through the vineyard. We touched the grapes! We laughed and learned so much.
Her and her assistant Madison made us feel like old friends and we are so grateful for these memories.
After our tour, we stayed around and played games outside and listened to more live music. We were so comfortable, we didn’t want to leave.
Make a trip to Bear Claw! It’s an hour and a half away from Atlanta and the perfect destination no matter the reason for...
