The Cohutta Wilderness is a true gem for nature enthusiasts seeking an authentic wilderness experience. While the trails may be challenging, with plenty of downed trees and thorny undergrowth, they offer a rewarding sense of accomplishment. The rugged terrain and diverse ecosystem make for a truly immersive adventure.

One of the highlights of the wilderness is the stunning waterfall, a breathtaking sight that's well worth the hike. The surrounding area is filled with lush greenery, serene streams, and a peaceful ambiance that invites contemplation and relaxation.

While camping options are somewhat limited and often located away from the water's edge, they provide a secluded and primitive experience. This can be both a blessing and a challenge, as it requires careful planning and self-sufficiency.

In conclusion, the Cohutta Wilderness is an ideal destination for those who appreciate the raw beauty of nature and are willing to embrace its challenges. It's a place where you can truly disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and reconnect with the...

We loved the hike. The trail could be marked better. There were a few times we had to scout the trail to make sure we were taking the right way. Be aware of mountain bikes. There were more of them than hikers. Everyone was alert and respectful so no issues occured for us, although we met a lady whose dog had been run over by a cyclist previously. The beauty of the forest will bring us back. All of the water features were stunning. And of course, the...

In full honesty, I hated this place the first time we camped there. Trail markings are often nowhere to be found and there is just generally few details about where you are on the sign boards. After several trips back and learning some of the hidden gems here I would highly suggest it. 45,000 acres of nature, rivers,...

Beautiful and empty. We hiked for two days and saw no one. Plenty of campsites. Panther creek trail was hard to find because of logs after the flood. Some sections were overgrown, but I liked that. Panther creek falls was worth the climb. Overall, it’s a hidden gem.

DO NOT GO anytime in the next few months to the hickory ridge trail. It is absolutely beaten with thorns and even with pants, the ripped right through them! Post-hurricane trees are everywhere and we had to crawl under/over them every 50ft and it was so hard!
