Note: only the main entrance is open to the hospital grounds. All others are closed off. (Of course we found the open one last 🤦‍♀️) Interesting museum. A bit hard to find, but Linda called me back and walked us through the direction of how to get there. She was a great tour guide, and explained everything perfectly for our kids. Museum was a mix of local (area) history, including Native Americans, and local history of the immediate area and of the hospital. I wish the exhibits went more in depth and were more extensive, but what was there was fascinating. Included (copies) of original documents, and children could touch most items. Linda creates special exhibits several times a year. Through 8/22 there is an exhibit on the history of toys. This was both a blessing and a curse for our kids, who didn't want to leave the toys as they could be played with.

Today on the 200th Anniversary, Dale Cox hosted a luch and learn and spoke on history of the Apalachicola Arsenal and it's role in the First Seminole War and the Scott Massacre.

Linda provided us with a guided tour, and it made the visit so much better! She pointed out all of the displays and most of them she knew the source of the artifacts.

Nice Museum, it is not where google shows it, that is a hospital building. Continue on past the location google shows, past the firehouse, continue, bear right at the Y, then bear left at the next Y. You will see a couple signs on the way “Arsenal “. There is an Arsenal sign & parking lot...

I drove around for an hour hunting this place. When I call the number linked to it I get the voicemail of a woman named Linda. Google Maps keeps taking me to the entrance of Florida State Hospital and all I see is a yellow barricade blocking the road. Someone tell me how to get...
