Don’t waste your time and gas. Would have been neat to visit but a real let down. I drove from Huntsville and found this property is restricted with no trespassing signs. You need a special permit to enter the grounds.

This was definitely a cool historic site, however it was noticeably dilapidated and unkempt, lowering the overall experience. Would definitely go again if the actual tavern was open or the garden was better kept.

Neat place to see if you know the history of it. Sad you can't see it closer or get better pictures of it but some people ruin it for everyone. It's worth it to preserve the history.

ALL OF THE PEOPLE saying it was a waste of time, due to no access, are misinformed or just selfish. EVERYWHERE around the world, DUE TO ONLINE PHOTO SHARING WITH DOCTORED IMAGES, has caused even famous tourist attractions to shut the tourists out, due to being INUNDATED WITH CARELESS, RECKLESS, TOURISTS TRYING TO BE INFLUENCERS!!😡 PHOTO SHARING HAS DESTROYED travel due to EVERYBODY trying to travel now, because they saw doctored photos online and BLOWN-UP LYING REVIEWS! BEAUTIFUL travel destinations USED TO be able to handle the number of tourist's until INSTAGRAM, FACEBOOK, YOUTUBE. But, they CAN'T NOW, because the NATURAL FLORA and FAUNA, GRASS, and buildings are being WORN DOWN from too much foot traffic. Historic buildings being ruined from the same. NORWAY stopped permitting CRUISE SHIPS there, and MANY CITIES PASSING LAWS, AS ITALY DID, to LIMIT TOURISTS and where they are permitted, due to PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY LIVE THERE'S LIVES BEING INTERRUPTED, TRAFFIC OVERWHELMS THEIR CITIES. Italy passed a law that ONLY PEOPLE STAYING OVER an extended period could come there, due to people coming for a few hours JUST TO SNAP THEIR PICTURE FOR THEIR CRAPPY ONLINE ACCOUNTS! I REFUSE TO LOOK AT THEIR IMAGES AND GIVE THE THE FOLLOWING SO THEY CAN CONTINUE PROFITING FROM WHAT WE USED TO ENJOY! Oh yeah, not to mention the TRASH THEY LEAVE, EVEN DIRTY DIAPERS! And stopping up the toilets too!🤯😡😡😡 STOP USING RENTALS THAT ARE OWNED BY INVESTORS! THEY ARE TAKING ALL THE SINGLE FAMILY HOMES AND DRIVING HOME PRICES THROUGH...

Brown's Tavern - February 27, 2019 A $231,737 grant from the Tennessee Historical Commission and Tennessee Wars Commission will preserve a nine-acre portion of the 1863 Wauhatchie battlefield in Chattanooga, including preserving Brown’s Tavern, a 212-year-old structure used during the Trail of Tears.

The tavern was owned by John Brown, who also operated a ferry at the...

Bummed out that it is not accessible to walk on the property and see the building and space. Sign that says private property and you will be prosecuted. People who vandalize are dumb but so are laws that keep everyone from being more free. When our population gets so dumb that we lose all of...
