I recommend against using Crabtree Farms as a wedding venue. Melissa tried to teach us a lesson by revoking our air conditioning privileges on the very hot day of our wedding. Since we neglected to turn off the AC the night before, the groom was made to ask nicely for permission to cool the space after guests were already arriving to an 85° event space. I would say that's an inappropriate time to impose a lesson and power trip (no pun intended) over perhaps $3 worth of electricity.

Much worse, we neglected to consider the consequences of holding our event on farmland that uses no forms of pesticides. The outdoor areas were 100% infested with mosquitoes and we were specifically prohibited from allowing our guests to use chemical insect repellent.

As a result, my bride spent much of the honeymoon seeking urgent care for recurrent swelling and hives resulting from -and this is not an exaggeration- hundreds and hundreds of mosquito bites. The amount of insects was unlike anything I'd ever seen and made me nauseous during portraits. It was an extreme challenge to get through photos while the couple and photographer are both being swarmed. I would like to have been made aware of this known issue with the property.

While the message of Crabtree was a motivating factor in our decision to be there that day, the acts and impositions of organic superiority were absolutely a challenge for us to enjoy our...

Went to the annual fall plant sale and got some great plants at a good price. They had a nice variety of annuals and perennials, as well as edible plants and herbs. About a dozen or so craft vendors were there as well, in addition to live entertainment. A food vendor was just getting started as we were leaving so we didn't ge a chance to sample his wares, but it smelled very good. The employees and volunteers were friendly and helpful. Parking was no problem even though there were several dozen visitors present and more arriving. All in all a fun event. We will...

We were welcomed by Crabtree Farms when we needed to find a venue quickly due to inclement weather, and we couldn't have had a more positive experience. The staff is incredibly kind and easy to work with! Cherita is a gem, and she made everything about our experience at Crabtree Farms wonderful. On top of the fact that the Evelyn Center is a lovely venue, Crabtree Farms has a meaningful mission with tangible community benefit. You can tell that people there love what they do, and care about making the farm a success. We loved our time there, and...

Smaller space perfect for DIL's baby shower. It's a bit sketchy going through the older neighborhood, but just keep going! The venue has a nice kitchen and it's well stocked. The space itself is nicely decorated and the bathrooms were very clean and nicely decorated. They have garage roll up doors that I imagine would be nice in the spring but they provided really nice natural lighting. Everything we needed to clean up was available. I didn't get any photos of the outside but unloading and loading was easily accessible.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. They are a 501 (c)3 urban teaching farm. They are feeding the community, teaching kids, and promoting local agriculture. They oversee the Grow Chattanooga local food program and its "Tastebuds" magazine, which is THE guide to local food in our region. Stop in for a free copy and get fresh produce at their stand. See their website for their special events and also the Grow Chattanooga website for info on Chattanooga's well-developed local food scene.
