As of September 1, 2024 you can park right at the trailhead parking lot. The campground is still closed. The area was devastated by the Dixie fire and the forest is very much destroyed. The valley is still beautiful and lush from the stream. The trail is not in the best condition, but walkable. Several bridges have some rotted out wood. Some creeks have to be crossed by stepping on sticks and rocks. Overall still a great destination, but be prepared that the trailhead is more difficult and there is a lot less shade...
