Sulphur Works — Attraction in Chester

Awesome spot to view the bubbling sulphur pits literally on the side of the road. Yes, it smells Terre, but yes, it looks awesome! The parking lot is only a few dozen feet away and has the trailhead to the other sulphur pits. There's a vault restroom here, too. This is also where they close the road in the early season due to snow. Expect road closures past here in the early season like May...

One of the mysterious place in the lassen volcanic national park. Sulphuric fumes are with typical rotten eggs smell. The boiling mud feels like out of the world. Interesting place to visit. Absolutely cool! I had never visited a geothermal area before so this was amazing. The air smelled like rotten eggs but that is natural. This is a great alternative to bumpass hell as it was closed when we went. Parking can be cramped but it’s manageable. Definitely worth a visit especially if you’re taking Lassen...
