Lakeside antiques is the kind of place that has a very specialized audience. When you go into the southern building, you are immediately greeted by a monstrous amount of artwork, statues, and luxury antiques. The northern building, while similar, does have a greater emphasis on what most antique places offer: classic mid-to-late-20th century examples of Americana. While the prices may seem high, consider that the owners and managers are meticulous in making sure that their store does not sell fakes or questionable antiques. This knowledge requires years of experience and study. If buying similar items at reputable auctions, prices would comes with a percentage of sale fee of 10- 20%. For Real antiques, I pay for the authentication which raises the price even more. Money well spent is better than any bargain that turns out to questionable.
