Last weekend we visited family inland, and on the way home we stopped to play at Discovery Park. This park is about 20 minutes away from north Orange County, in Chino. The park itself is part of The Preserve, a new community that is in the process of being built. I am not certain if it is a public or private park, but for the time being they seem to be welcoming everyone since there are model homes across the street and developers are looking to drum up interest in the neighborhood. We had so much fun on the obstacle course, which includes a zip line. The area for younger kids was also cute. There was even a little garden to explore and relax on. Afterward we toured the model homes, which is something that (weirdly) our whole family loves to do. Does anyone else do that? 😆 🫧There are 2 individual restrooms here, which were very clean and had changing tables. ☀️Not much shade! 🚗Street parking is available and there is plenty. ✈️ Planes of Fame Air Museum is nearby for a longer outing 📍 14641 Discovery Park Ave, Corona, CA 92880 #ocparentguide #playgrounds #ocmom #ocparents #chino #ocmomblog #yorbalinda #anaheim #anaheimhills

This place is amazing!

As you walked through the front door, you will be greeted by the sound of airplane engine! Then you're headed to the souvenirs store for the tickets.

Once you got your ticket and pass through the door to the first exhibition) hangar, you're hit with the sense of surreal realization.

Yes, you are standing right in front of these famous wartimes warbirds!

They're so big yet so personal!

We were here mainly for the chance to see one of the only two left (everything is from the original aircraft) of the once more than 11,000 produced Mitsubishi A6M5, aka Zero or Zeke.

Why the Zero?

Hahaha! Being a Hayao Miyazaki's fan, I watched everything from him. The Wind Rises is not an exception! The film and the story is more than amazing and inspirational! And I would naturally wiki more info about Jiro Horikoshi and the Zero!

Anyway, the museum is fantastic! The staff is professional and courteous!

The volunteers are walking dictionary of the airplanes and the history of the museum! They're so friendly and ready to show you anything or answer any questions! They will share with you with excitement anything from how Edward T. Maloney started the mission of preserving a part of history to details of every aircraft! You can tell they are aviation enthusiasts! 😊😊 Jim and John were awesome!

Many airplanes are still in flying conditions and fly demos are scheduled every month! Come in December 2022 to see the Zero fly!

Besides the airplanes, there are tanks, engines, models, war artifacts, and a...

The museum is located at the Chino Airport and houses over 150 aircraft, including rare and historic planes. Many of these aircraft are still in flying condition, which is quite impressive.

The exhibits are well-organized and informative, covering various eras of aviation history. One of the highlights is the collection dedicated to the 475th Fighter Group, which includes artifacts, photographs, and records from their time in the South Pacific during World War II.

The museum also hosts monthly events called “Hangar Talk,” where visitors can attend talks or seminars given by people involved with the featured aircraft, followed by flight demonstrations. These events are themed around different aspects of aviation history, such as World War I Aviation, Experimental Aircraft, and Naval Aviation.

In addition to the aircraft, the museum has a collection of military vehicles, including a Sherman Tank and a Dodge Ambulance from World War II. These vehicles are maintained and operated by volunteers and are used in parades and historical reenactments.

Overall, the Planes of Fame Air Museum offers a fascinating look into aviation history, with knowledgeable staff and well-preserved exhibits. It’s a great place to visit for anyone interested in aircraft and...
