Hilgers is to the west, just outside northern fort Wayne, so it's nice for a little country-life very near the city. I gave it three stars because although the staff was very friendly, and the experience was nice overall, it was very limited. Theres some shopping (fresh fruits, jams, popcorn, cider, pickled produce etc) but none of it was produced by Hilgers. The farm is small and not very well kept - Old machinery left out in overgrown weeds, surrounded by makeshift structures. The best part was the abundance and wide variety of pumpkins for sale - they were gorgeous! The hay ride was therapeutic, but quite short. The farm animal petting zoo consisted of two bunnies in a cage, and a sad pony in a small pen, with a few barn cats scattered throughout the property. The mazes were very small (meant for kids) and the only other activity was a playground. Overall, the feel is more "Amish" than "farm" (I grew up on a farm and have family who are farmers) but if you're a city slicker, this could be good fun for you and your kids to enjoy the...

You wait for the tractor to pick you up, the wagon attached to the tractor actually has church pew seats up in there so it makes the bumpy ride more comfortable out to the field!! The tractor is constantly picking up and dropping off people every 5 to 10 mins. If you're doing the strawberry U-pick make sure to wear a hat and sunscreen, you'll get burned if you don't! The owners of the farm were awesome and I saw multiple times they were checking in on their workers to make sure they were doing okay, asked if they needed help, etc. They also have strawberry and lemon slushies for sale. Also -- the smaller parking lot to the left is only for the people buying from the greenhouse. The larger parking lot is for those doing the...

Our only bad experience is that there was a place where I thought was the exit but it turns out it wasn't and a quite old man was very rude and yelled at me to get out of there and to stop breaking the fence but I wasn't standing or damaging anything but I think there are ways to explain if someone is doing something wrong not necessarily yelling at them and looking at you in a contemptuous way my children were scared and 2 of them are autistic and seeing the attitude of the gentleman they were scared and my little girl just ran to me I hope nobody goes through...
