I LOVE hiking, and there just isn't anywhere around close that has trails you can hike. I grew up here and know all the hidden gems, and I need new places. This place, I can be at Happy Lake in a 5 minute walk. I recall when Happy Lake was open to the public and you entered in a different way. You could drive above the rock shelters and make a little circle. Now it's full of graffiti, and just yday I was there and overnight, some bratty kids, left spray paint bottles and their horrible pictures all over the rock overhangs. I did notice something I've never noticed in all my yrs. There's rocks with holes in them, worn holes. From grinding acorns I'd guess. Native Americans must have use the spot on hunting parties. IDK but this place is down the road from me and I hike out there 2x a day, trying to get in shape for tougher hikes later in the year. Love the place. Great job City...
Read moreThe site is always very clean and the trails are easy to walk. There is a map posted out front where the trails start that tells you the difficulty of the trail and how long each take. The site is pet friendly as long as you have a leash. I believe you can fish and possibly duck hunt on the property as well and there is a boating dock. We spend our time between Turkey Mountain, Collinsville Lake and Claremore Bike Trails. Claremore isn’t near the size of Turkey but growing in popularity and I’ve heard growing.
