This location was indeed peaceful during the cold winter. We were the only two people there.
This was a lovely thought to draw people near with the Tell Cross Statue. Each statue has some detailed information about the steps Christ Jesus took the day he was to allow himself to be put death (John 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I.) and to conqueror death on behalf of us sinners.
I have seen people state about bowing down to the Statues and get these feelings of Jesus touching them.
Exodus 20:4Ā Ā Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I theĀ LordĀ thy God am a jealous God,
Leviticus 26:1 āYou shall not make idols for yourselves or erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set up a figured stone in your land to bow down to it, for I am theĀ LordĀ your God.
Deuteronomy 4:16 Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness ofĀ male or female,
Isaiah 40:18Ā To whom then will ye liken God? or what likenesse will ye compare vnto him?ā
Psalms 97:7Ā Confounded [Put to Shame] be all they that serve graven images, that [make]boast themselves of [in worthless] idols: worship him,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLeft AZ & was drivi to GA. I was broken, devastated & scared I was having a nervous breakdown. Lost & No solid place to land I just had to go someplace else far from where I was. I made a pit stop here & aside from seeing the HUGE cross from miles away, I had no idea what this place was. After a good 2 hours of walking the stations of the cross & reading everything, Ugly Crying & after sitting inside of the tomb with the stone rolled back I found myself a crumpled up mess seated at the base of the cross. God Showed up & Showed Out for me as I begged for his mercy & guidance. This was the first time I actually Felt the Presence of God. When I stood up I felt almost whole again. I could feel Him Filling Me Up. As I walked towards the gift shop I was overwhelmed with the need to be rebaptized. There is a small fountain at the entrance of the shop so I rolled up my pants legs and climbed into it & washed my feet legs & arms. Praying out loud for this to be my personal baptism & cleansing of my past as to be renewed for my future. This entire experience was a spiritual life saver. God began to order my steps yet again but this time I was listening. I move only when he moves Me. This place changed my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI think there are a few misses for me here. The first is that this stop focuses on the crucifixion and death of Christ with just a note about the resurrection. The resurrection is the most important part! And at this stop, it's an empty tomb with no description, off to the side, hidden by everything else.
The second is the cross is pretty garish. What's the point? No one is converting based on seeing the USs second biggest cross. I just don't see any reason to have this here considering it clashes with the aesthetics of everything else.
Finally, and definitely not an afterthought, this cherry picks scriptures that ostracize different groups of people and monumentizes them. It's goes against the first and second great commandment and just drives people away. Sad to see on statues that last forever when so many other things could have been here where the primary focus...
