Awesome place BUT the trail map is terrible. It is not accurate and it doesn’t tell you the difficulty level of the trails. It describes it but the map color doesn’t tell you which trail is which difficulty level. Also at the tail crossings they don’t mark them well. You have to guess which trail is the one you chose. It’s extremely hot on the trails so bring plenty of water because the trails are very long. And the restrooms are sparsely located so go before walking…Just saying 😉 Pet friendly trails so you can bring your pet with you. we brought plenty of water for our dog too. It was really necessary. The campsite we stayed on was beautiful and well shaded, lots of wildlife. Turkeys run everywhere. Rabbits. Overall the park is very beautiful and worth visiting for...

Update: We stayed @ Palo Duró Canyon SP again on our drive back to NC. My only complaint was the long walk to the restroom. The trails are well maintained and marked. This is the 2nd largest canyon in the US. Make your...

A little bonus was that there was a little shack where you can get a cheap and tasty snow cone in the park... much needed in the heat! They have very friendly staff both at entrance and also inside the Visitor's Center/Gift Shop and they provide you with free maps of the area. Will be going back to explore trails when cooler. Also there were Native American dancing and music demos while we were there. ...
