Batton Hollow Winery — Attraction in Clarksburg

Came in for a wine tasting and the place was busy (in a good way, service was stellar despite the volume of people having a great time.) I believe it was the wife of the owner made time for my wife and myself to try out everything. Their Riesling is VERY tasty, and without a doubt the 2nd best in the state. (so far) The rest of their wine lines are PURE CANDY! If you don't like the crowds so much you can show up earlier and still have a good time for a while before it gets crowded. This is a place that I would recommend sitting down and trying a glass of everything with a group of friends.

Recommendations for the people who never know what to get: (Dry means no sugar, which doesn't necessarily mean bitter.) (Sweet means sugar added, or sugar left over fermentation making it sweeter than dry.)

This quaint boutique is a gem! Batton Hollow is everything you would expect from a West Virginia Winery. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about his product and enjoys sharing his craft with customers. What a terrific find! We were traveling on our way back from New River Gorge and decided last minute to look for a place to buy a bottle of wine. This place popped up with good reviews so we went for it. Very, very pleased with the wines and walked away with 7 bottles.
