I hiked here twice, and it's just okay if you're only hiking here. Sugarloaf Mountain, just a few miles from Little Bennett, is a much better place to hike. Even though the west side of Little Bennett is supposed to be hikers only, there are obviously equestrians who illegally ride their horses, because I regularly spotted horse poop. I'm just happy I never encountered any horses, especially on some of the very narrow trails where a horse can't turn around and in which you would have to move off the path for these inconsiderate riders to pass by. Some of the trails are fire trails that I found rather unpleasant to walk on, and some were overgrown with long grass, which was especially unpleasant in the early morning when there was still dew on them. My pants got very wet walking through there. The camping facilities looked wonderful, though, so if you're here to camp (and hike), you will likely enjoy yourself much...
Read moreThis was a decent park with full rv hook ups. Good location. Decent amenities. Fairly easy in and out. The proximity to Washington, DC was the big winner. We could get to the capital in under 40 mins. Getting out was a different story. +/- 1-2 hours. The park itself had basic spots with good gravel. Most seemed to be level or slightly sloped. The road on the other hand was missing in places with sharp drops for bigger rigs. Inside the park their was a Store, laser tag on weekends during season, a playground, and a jumpy pillow that never seemed to be on. The kids jumped on the pillow thing for 20 mins the 1st day, then someone washed it and never saw it blown up again over 4 day stay. They were disappointed. Would we stay again? Yes, for...
Read moreThis campground is a fantastic escape for some peace near Frederick and DC. The sites are well-kept, and the camp store has all the 🏕️ essentials you need. The showers are nice and hot, and the bathrooms are decently clean, even with the heavy crowds during peak season. I loved hitting the easy, crisscrossing 🌲 trails—perfect for a relaxing hike, though it was a bit muddy after recent rain. The park’s huge, with plenty of parking lots, so picking the right one saves time. Just keep an eye out for 🦌 deer culling signs to plan your hiking days. It’s a great spot to unplug and soak in the quiet of nature. Definitely coming...
