A diverse and family friendly park with tennis courts, baseball fields, volleyball sand courts, bocce courts, walking trails, grills. .Separate play area for very young children that is close to the restrooms.. A larger play area is available for the bigger kids. Well maintained and clean. Most should feel safe walking on paved trail which is about 1/2 mile. A smaller trail goes into the woods on the back side of the park. Lots of dog walkers on weekends. Several dog cleanup stations on the trail keep things clean. Overall a nice place with nice patrons.

This is perhaps one of the most dangerously designed updates. There is no shade from trees or umbrellas, the slide is angled at two aggressive turns for a rigid ride and there is a severe amount of metal. Now that the general complaints are taken care of, I would like to address my top concern, which is that the rope path leading from one structure to another has no safety netting, meaning, your child has a strong risk of plummeting between 6-12 feet, depending on where they fall from this rope walkway. See pictures.

I was up from Florida visiting my sister and niece. They brought me to this park that was a part of my sister's childhood. Although I was in weather I didn't quite know how to handle and was absolutely Frozen and shaking I walked the nicest trails!!! I saw people of so many walks of life just enjoying this place! And for my sister to be able to bring her child I mean how many places do we have like that left. It really is a strong part thanks to the community. Maybe one day her daughter will be bringing her child.

😢😢😢😢😢😢What have they done to my childhood park??Volleyball court was a great community activity. Tennis courts were great for fitness. Children's park was tore down, yall literally tore down a Childrens playground as if that cheap crap yall built can even be honestly considered as a Replacement.. Shame of you Town of Clayton!!!!!! You tore down the the activities that brought people in this community together.. the "new" playground is a waste of energy, ropes are cheap and danger. What is really the goal here? To decrease community out activities and people's interactions.. hmmmm maybe racism and corruption would rather not see so much social Unity so lets kill all this outdoor social mingling, i remember the cops sitting around in their cars at this park watching teens play tennis together hoping for reason to harass them, sickening... I left years ago and love my life at Smithfield community park everyday and meeting new friends that love their parks activities. Clayton has miss tons of money now bc this park use to draw group events but instead now in 2025 Smithfield is partnering with CHICKFILA other vendors to come on the weekends to bring their park even more popularity and support. While Clayton killed this park's potential and seem to like it better whens it's empty. RESIDENTS SHOULD BAN TOGETHER AND DEMAND THEIR PARK BRING BACK TENNIS COURTS, SAND VOLLEYBALL COURTS, PLUS BASKETBALL AND ATLEAST TWO MORE KID'S PLAYGROUNDS AREAS BE BUILD BACK UP. Why live in a town were they kill the free fun???? Why? Why live in a town where the community park looks like this and people tell you that it "use to have more to offer"?? Sound ridiculous. Plus were is any workout equipment. Morrisville has multiple parks that offer resistance training equipment to its citizens. CLAYTON, WHILE IT'S THE ONLY JOCO TOWN TO BE APART OF THE BIGGER METRO TRIANGLE, SEEMS TO HAVE NO VISIONARIES IN ITS CITY COUNCIL THAT CAN THINK TO CAPITALIZE ON ITS LOCATION BY ENHANCING ITS TOWN'S PRIME AMENITIES .. nothing but a waste of potential. Bible says were there is no vision the people perish. And as a fitness guy I'm glad I left. SMITHFIELD KEEPS GETTING MORE FIT MORE FUN MORE MONEY. Clayton park activities should return to its formal glory but til then it's Nothing more than a boring place that kids and families do not come together at...I know it sucks when your city tears outdoor park activities out of its main community park. No vision no community bonds.. just work and go home I guess that what Clayton wants.... 0 stars for destroying children playground...

The idea of the park is great. The equipment and spacing is questionable. When you have 10-12 year olds swinging beside 1-2 year olds it’s dangerous. I assist my granddaughter and don’t leave her side while at parks. Before you judge… I move quickly. I’m in my early 40s. Same age as a lot of parents with their two year olds. I took her off a swing and walked around the other side where she within two seconds had been knocked off her feet (in the face and neck area) by a child too old to be on the swings in this area (not being watched because of age, not negligence). She was swinging very high and the area/spacing does not allow for that. I’m not blaming the child. She did nothing wrong. Believe me, I learned my lesson, feel horrible for not being able to foresee the issue in the moment and won’t take her back to this park. There needs to be a clear distinction on age groups for specific equipment. I have taken her to many places and this has never been an issue. I worked in childcare for many years and this layout doesn’t seem safe logistically. Not to mention the ropes 6-7 ft high that a child could easily fall through. I didn’t allow her on that structure needless to say, but even older kids could easily fall through. Parents think when kids are a certain age they can reasonably navigate playground equipment. Not here. Kids get tired from playing. Too many kids cause a rush across the “plank in the sky” and a 5-7 year old could easily fall through because of their height, space between ropes, etc which could be a disaster because of the distance they would fall. These issues need to be addressed. I spoke to several other parents and grandparents who agreed. It’s pretty and challenging for kids which I appreciate to an extent but there are many issues that need to be resolved before someone gets...

I was showing my boyfriend a little in the area bc he's new to this area, and usually I would say I love this park but the other evening when I took him there were kids hanging out all around the clubhouse just using profanity, while walking around the pond they were shouting rude remarks, he was very upset, but I have two boys and boys will be boys. I would hope that mine would never be rude to any adult, unless something was done to them first, but this is the only complaint I have about the park that maybe there should be a little more police presence/or the parents actually teaching these kids to respect adults unless given anything other than respect. Times have really changed when you can't go take a stroll around the trails at your local park. I guess it would just be nice of them to ride through just to show that they can't run off at the mouth at just anyone...
