Simply gorgeous place on a springtime morning in late April. Grass still green, trees leafing out, stream still running and wildflowers blooming. Idyllic. I took Back Creek Trail going up, and was pleasantly surprised to cross the creek a number of times - the water is running, but it’s easy to cross. Came down Donner Creek Road, which was a little too wide for my tastes (I much prefer a narrow trail) but it was still very scenic. Saw some anise swallowtails on the way down. Delightful...

Exceptional beauty of nature- a must seen hiking hills with multiple trails. Parking is an issue. I couldn’t notice the parking restriction signs and ended up with getting a parking violation ticket of $49- so pay attention to that. You can park somewhere a little far in back streets. However, you will love the joy of nature out...

Great trails, great park. Donner canyon to middle trail then Prospectors gap and up Summit Trail. 3586' of climb, 9.8 miles and 4hrs. Most trails very good and well marked. There are some technical areas that you need to be careful on the way up and especially on the way down (loose rock/steep) on the Summit...
