This was our first time visiting this section of the Neuse River Trail and I have to say it's probably the most scenic route of them all. There were families, photographers and yes even the cyclists... I know that the trails are designed for everyone to enjoy but I don't think that the cyclists use enough safety precautions while riding on the same path as foot traffic and they travel at a very high rate of speed which makes it nearly impossible for them to stop when they encounter other people in the narrow pathway! I think there should be more rules and restrictions placed on the bicycles and more mutual respect for the Greenway and share the paths instead of causing fear for foot traffic...

Polluted water. Me and my mom went here to hike because the review seemed the highest here, but the water smells horrible, like runoff and chemical pollution. We didn't know why, but then saw the sign saying there is a water treatment plant nearby. We kept walking and saw a sign that says "reclaimed water, do not drink". So the smell must be coming from runoff from the agricultural fields using bad practices. To me, the whole path in this area stinks and smella eapecially bad near the water around certain areas of the bridge. I am from out of state and the water doesn't smell like this in other places. This is a very polluted area, not healthy to be hiking, running, biking, or...

27+ miles one way. All paved with two lanes. No motorized vehicles on the trail. Bikes, dogs, and other are allowed. The trail will pass some sketchy sections, some secluded areas as well. It beautiful for the most part. People’s could have a sense of insecurity on this trail at times being how remote it could feel so stay contacted with someone for personal safety. Park at Mial Plantation Rd greenway parking. Take the greenway to the left (east) for about 1.5 miles to Williamson Preserve. You’ll find approximately 13 miles of single track. Before the gate for that you’ll find a hiking only trail on...

It's a good trail with many access points. I usually enter at Clayton and ride my bike a couple of miles, my body is not capable of doing much more and I physicially can't walk very far. It is much safer than public roads and naturally scenic. On the weekend there are a many people using the trail and this makes it safer than a sparsely travelled route. (I've never been on a weekday.) I'm sure you'll enjoy nature while riding your bike, walking or taking the puppy for a stroll. I've even seen some folks fishing along the way. This is a good way to get a little exercise in this current world of COVID. Enjoy.
