Might be the most gorgeous lake and hike out of any hike that I've ever done, which is saying something since we've been to roughly a dozen national parks and done well over a hundred hikes over the years.
All 4 of our kids completed the hike, but they are good hikers.
The trail was almost 10 miles roundtrip and almost 2,000 feet of elevation gain.
For what it's worth, if I had it to do over again, I would have skipped the little side trail down to Alpine Lake because you'll have to go back up that side trail to continue to Sawtooth Lake. Not that there is anything wrong with Alpine Lake at all - it is gorgeous - but Sawtooth Lake is just soooo much better that I'd dedicate the extra time to hanging at...
