I just recently went on this hike on a June 16th. For anyone wondering there was a little snow at near and at the top but it was not on trail just in the sides in little shaded areas and of course the mountain peaks that surround you. It too me and my friend a total of 6 hours to hike there and back about 3.5h up and 2.5h back and if I believe somewhere around a 12 mile hike total. It’s definitely doable for most people the trail is very easy to read and definitely maintained. Never ran across and large wildlife just birds and these little groundhog things. Definitely bring enough water I had 3L and drank almost all of it and if you wanna be smart about it some water shoes. You WILL need to cross the creek you are next to about 5 times. I believe 3times there’s no option except waking straight through it. On the other 2 one has a big tree downed across it so it’s easy to balance on and the other has a legitimate bridge for it. The water at most gets 2 feet deep. Just place your feet smartly and take your time so you don’t fall in. After all is quickly moving snow water lol but like I said it’s at MAX 2 feet deep so very doable. It was an amazing hike and worth every second. The lake at the start of the hike, Pettit Lake is super beautiful and crystal clear with almost a turquoise appearance, a very cool place to swim. Anyways anyone who’s contemplating...

Need to pay $10 in cash for parking. This is a good trailhead if you want to hike the Alice Lake - Toxoway Lake loop.

I recommend going counterclockwise; the view of Alice Lake from the top is stunning and feels more rewarding coming from the north/Toxaway side. Lots of campsites along the trail, first come first serve, but the Toxaway side is a little more private and preferable for camping, I think. But the loop is a pretty doable day hike if you're up for 20 miles of rocky climbing and a couple of...

Started trail 095 and completed the Toxaway loop. Fun hike. Offered steep elevation changes, water sources and great scenery. I hiked in mid-July and there was still snow at the highest elevation of the trail. Just bring plenty of mosquito spray for the Toxaway lake area. VERY aggressive mosquitoes. I had to wear a sweatshirt over a long sleeve shirt with the hood on, jeans and socks. Still had bites on my hands and face. Took three days to complete the loop. Could've done it faster or slower...

Tin Cup is nestled in the back of Pettit Lake Campground. There is enough space for 250 cars to park just for trail head use. Now, If you are planning on backpacking into Alice Lake or Toxaway Lake save yourself the headache and do this BEFORE Labor Day weekend OR AFTER Labor Day weekend! 350 to 400 cars DOES NOT fit well into a space that is only big enough for 250 cars. However, Tin Cup Trailhead does offer several different trails for you to use and see the sights.
