State Park, camping and fishing campground was nice lot of nice people also campground Host was very helpful and nice. However roads are not marked for what way to drive. Also camp sites are very unlevel so if in a RV or travel trailer or down that line make sure to have leveling Jack's you will need them. Almost all spots are gravel. Dose have two dump stations and water. And garbage dumpster through out the park Wich is nice. Restrooms are very clean and nice two shower houses and hot water, both have restrooms and men women shower with locking doors other have wheelchair accessible showers and restrooms so very nice for all. Not much of walking trails.just one to the lake But nice playground and trail to get to the close beach with the lake near by what is nice, is they have full hook up to and just Elc. Or non elc. And tent. Also a plus they have walk in camping no need to reserve a spot but also have the ability to do so but if you're like me traveling it hard to Rev spots not knowing the areas. And picking a spot. With cell towers not always working or if you're in a national Park coming to or from not knowing weather or road closures could make you late or early so walk up is very nice. Unfortunately I wish they would accept the America beautiful or golden access passes being a state park no discounts of any kind but I stayed at site 36 it was nice.cost 16 a night not to bad. And lake just over the hill. Would probably come back again - The...
Read moreI was illegally detained by DNR officer Josh for riding a pedestrian conveyance upon the state highway in the campground. This is not a crime and therefore no reasonable articuable suspicion of a crime existed to warrant a traffic stop. The DNR had an illegal policy overstepping their jurisdiction by banning pedestrian conveyances on the state road in the campground. Josh was attempting to enforce this policy and prohibited me from riding my scooter in the campground for the rest of the weekend. This was a clear violation of my 4th Amendment rights (unwarranted stop + unwarranted seizure of my property by placing an unlawful restriction upon it's use on the road for the remainder of my visit)
All pedestrian conveyances are LEGAL to operate on state highways and roads regardless if they are in a DNR campground or not. The DNR had to remove all references to this policy after I successfully petitioned their legal department to review this policy and they determined they had infact violated the law and overstepped their jurisdiction.
All references to banning pedestrian conveyances in state parks have been removed.
No apology was given, even after I directly asked for one and gave them an opportunity to do so, for my rights being violated for simply visiting the state park on an escooter.
I have all documents, emails and receipts which will corroborate everything I...
Read moreCamped on site #98 which is a "full hookup" site, there's not many of these. (I believe 6 or 7). The sites are very small, tight & gravel sites. We were very disappointed! Not what I would've thought when reserving a "full hookup" site. I would avoid these sites due to, there's a road in front of you and tent campers right across the street(limited parking for there cars). Then there's a road behind you leading to the dump, shower building & garbage dumpsters. So you have a constant stream of traffic. Roads are not one way either, so use your imagination. On top of all this, they mowed while we were there and the female mowing was blowing dirt & rocks all over you camp. All the years I've camped if you're on a site, they don't mow. No this woman, she when all out & didn't seem to care at all!!
The lake was nice, but wear aqua shoes due to lots of rocks. Didn't care for all the boats that were allowed to pull up & dock right by swim area. Some days you could see the sheen coming from the gas.
If you're a walker like I am, really no where to walk except campground. Otherwise, there's a residential street off beach area to walk thru the town area.
Also, very strict on leash law for pets!!
Overall, the campground was clean...
