Seven Bridges Nature Area — Attraction in Clearwater Township

The first part of the water and river walk was beautiful- but the back .4 mile loop is incredibly poorly marked. My husband, dog, and I, who are avid hikers, wanted to take a short little hike, but because the trail is partly made up of a dirt two-track, and the real trail makes an unmarked turn off of this track to create a loop, we ended up hiking for over a mile before realizing we were lost. This is unbelievably dangerous, as .4 miles is an easy distance to walk with a dog or small kids- but 2 miles in 90 degree heat can be deadly. DNR, please fix this and...

Nice place for a short hike; however, when taking the 3mile hike the trail is not clearly marked. It shows that you do a loop and you start on a pretty wide trail. Then if you don’t look closely, you will miss the turn. It looks like a small path with grass growing on sides of it. We continued straight because we missed it. Beautiful! We encountered it heading south from Petoskey to Grand Rapids as a way to break up the trip. Amazing and beautiful. HOWEVER, we got lost by heading into a trail at the far end of the field that was NOT a part of the walking path.
