The helpful and knowledgeable staff and voluminous contents at the Knox County Historical Society Museum are unmatched. Jim, especially, found documents and historical items pertinent to my Carter and Roy families that have made all the difference to my family research. Who would guess they stored my formerly enslaved Great-Grandfather Joseph Booker’s Masonic sword and his picture? Jim and a female volunteer also found mention of my Great-Great-Uncle Albert Roy’s typical day on page 201 in Lorle Porter’s indispensable book, “Perils and Politics in Mount Vernon.” Then Jim produced an unpublished diary that mentioned Albert.
