We spent two nights tent camping at Lake Alma State Park Campground. We did enjoy the campgrounds however the spots are close together, thankful we booked next to friends. Each campsite has a picnic table and a campfire ring with a flip grate attached. We were near the shower house/restrooms...this was one building with four separate rooms. Each room had a shower, sink, and flushable toilet. The other restrooms throughout the campground seemed to be outhouse style. The area is nicely shaded. We enjoyed hiking several of the trails. The Outer Lake Trail and the Island Loop Trail were nice hikes without much incline. The Sassafras, Acorn, and Old Pine Trails were more challenging with steep inclines but we enjoyed them as well. The Lake is nice, there is a boat house where you can rent boats and purchase concessions. The beach area is nice with a lot of space. Picnic areas are available near the beach. I only saw one outhouse style bathroom near the beach area. There is a small park and a dog park as well. Overall it was a nice place to stay though it would be even better if the campsites were not so close...

This park has great potential but is so poorly designed it makes things difficult. Do not take a long trailer here without first going there and understanding what the site looks like and how you will be able to park. There are no signs to direct you, there are two branches to sites, but one branch has no turn around area. Sites near the shower house that need eliminated, they create safety issues for trailers turning. It is way too tight to turn, a lot of people had major issues.

This campsite unlike most other Ohio Parks I have been too has very poorly designed sites. They cram too many sites in too little area, they put sites at bad angles, they are way too close together so privacy can be an issue.

There should be warnings against large trailers staying here. There is not sufficient room for parking them and there is nowhere to park tow vehicles. There is not enough area to park so people park on the road.

The road in the park is one way only, there needs to be a sign at the exit of the campground telling you which direction to turn to get back to the entrance. (If you need to get back,...

Just so simple... what a beautiful area. We came here from Colorado and it was such nice place ... until, a golf cart kept circling our trailer. When I tried to find the parents of the young people, a boy of 20 looked at me and said he wasn’t afraid of me. What world do we live in when 20 year old man is facing down a 60 year old women? What made him so angry? Did I accidentally travel to Portland??? The area is beautiful but my fellow campers less than to be desired. Let us not mention the rift raft that circle the lake all the time...yea I said rift raft! I was sitting in a Piggy Wiggly in a Wellston while my husband picked up some supplies and a young couple was parked behind me just waiting. Waiting for what??? Don’t get me wrong please, I own property in the area. The general community is great and the officers are wonderful, but the strange fringe that go to Lake Alma is not worth coming to again. Need more forestry agents or stay away! I don’t feel safe....
