For anyone who says this place is "wonderful" or "amazing" must not have had the pleasure of walking thru a "real" zoo because this place is NOT a zoo. I was raised on a farm and understand farm-life and this is basically an under-kept petting farm with mostly goats and deer and a couple of other animals. The cages for the more exotic animals are tiny and in my opinion cruel. The animals in the small area in the building have an overwhelming smell of urine/ammonia and poop that we ran through it quickly due to the stench and again tiny inhumane cages. When you arrive you cannot see anything hidden behind the main building and if you did you would see the whole tiny hilly property and realize right away that it isn't worth $15.00 per adult. I went to a petting farm in Wisconsin that was $5.00 and had more to see and pet and do then this place. Their website does not represent what you will see or experience. I did not see a kangaroo. The tiger was not there. There are only one or two of some of the other animals mentioned. The goats were not roaming either. The playground for kids is only a slide and a swing so don't get your hopes up there either.
Overall it took us less than 30 minutes to walk and stop to feed the goats our expensive $6.00 bucket of food and we were done! $40 with taxes lost and a long out of the way drive to get there. The conditions are deplorable and then fact that they call themselves a "rescue" concerns me since this is not in any way a better lifestyle for these animals then wherever they were rescued from. They would do better in the wild then at this place! The money they takes in certainly does not go into better living conditions for these animals. Visit a real zoo and tell me that I am incorrect for saying this. This place should be ashamed. We were saddened and just wanted to set the animals free... And no I am not a PETA supporter and I have no issues with Zoos in general, but I do love animals and just could not believe what I was seeing and even more so since they call...
Read moreI wanted to love this place because it's close to my house. Unfortunately, it was kind of depressing seeing how small some of the animal enclosures are. My 5 year old had a great time, and the pricing is very reasonable. They have a good assortment of animals, and I love that they have goats wandering throughout the zoo.
I felt like the tiger looked miserable in the small enclosure it was in. The wolves and foxes also didn't look too great. The fox enclosure also smells terrible. I was also taken aback when I saw the staff feeding in the goat enclosure. They were dumping large boxes of what appeared to be expired baked goods for the animals to eat. There was a pile of old donuts, bread, bagels, and cakes that the animals were eating. Im not a zookeeper by any means, but that doesn't seem like the best diet for farm animals.
Again, my daughter had a great time feeding the bucket of food to the various animals. And it's nice that you can interact with most of the animals they have. Prices are more than fair for what you get as well. Chances are, you're going to leave feeling a...
Read moreFirst time going here and from a small kids POV they will LOVE it! I think it's a little overpriced for what it is though. Also some of the animal enclosures could definitely be better. Seeing the foxes in a wooden box and the tiger on a cement pad and small cage hurts my heart. It's nice to see animals more in their natural habitat. Also when you leave! The grey parrots in the gift shop should have a better bite proof cage! For the kids to feed animals for an hour and then as you leave see these birds and not be able to put their hand out to them, it's confusing. My oldest got a nasty bite on her finger from one of them. Yes there is a sign that says Caution We Bite, my oldest is 5 and can't read yet...but as they are running around looking at everything and the birds have their beaks hanging out of the cage, what's a kid to do. As a mom I should have seen it happen, but I didn't. Anyways a better cage for them or move them elsewhere. Overall the kids had a blast, definitely get a feed bucket for all the little goats...
