This place has few issues. But nothing beyond the limit of unexceptionable. However, they really need to fix some stuff. First, if you want to pay cash for just a lift ticket they have 2 or 3 casher. Yet, if you need to use a card then you have to use the same line as the people renting gear and there is only one (1) casher. I got in the lift ticket line at 0905 am, finally got my ticket at 1015 am. Over an hour wait to get a ticket. They really need to get more cashers. Second, they have a serious issue with not being able to restart the lifts after an emergency stop. I watched the lift worker try to get the lift restarted for 15 minutes, before someone who could work the lift arrived. I then got the luxury of getting stuck on the lift 3 times myself. One time for about 12 minutes, and the other two times for about 8-10 minutes apeice. For a grand total of of 30 minutes stuck on a lift. They really need to get someone who knows how to operate the lift. Third issue, they only have one lift. This is a big problem because ALL of the novice/beginner riders are issueing the lift. This caused huge pile ups and I ended up getting laid out by a couple of kids (about 8-10 years old). They really need a lift that goes halfway up. The last issue is that the whole parking lot turned into a swamp after 1100 am. With mud about 2-3 inches deep. Kind of sucked trying to change after I got done. Mud got all over my gear and vehicle inside and out. They really need to make a concrete parking lot.
Now they did do a very good job at getting cars parked. Where as Ski Apache the day prior closed down parking at around 1030 am without notice, eventhough I could see 20-30 parking spots available during the hour and half that I was stuck only a quarter mile away from the parking lot. Ski Cloudcroft made several spots by shoveling several feet of snow out of the way. They also have ski patrol and ski instructors (who were very polite) all over...

When nature provides snow, a chairlift rises to a delightful ski area offering groomed intermediate terrain and ungroomed trails and tree areas for the more adventurous. Should there be insufficient natural snow to allow access the upper terrain, the bunny hill has artificial snowmaking and is ideal for beginners.
New for 2018, a 600ft "magic carpet" lift now provides access to much more beginner and intermediate terrain all served by state-of-the-art snowmaking, and has established Cloudcroft as relevant to more and more lovers of skiing.
Ski Cloudcroft is easily accessible, is great value for money, almost never has lift lines, offers tubing, has a great restaurant, is 2.5 miles from Cloudcroft and is run by an expert friendly staff. This adds up to a...
Read moreSlopes had just had 8-12" of new snow. My wife and 2 small boys did the ski school and played on the bunny slopes. I was able to ski the upper parts of the mountain. I have skied several different times, and in my experience I did not feel comfortable sending first timers up the mountain even on the green runs. This is a small mountain, so I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but I thought it would be more beneficial for the novice skiier. The greens were really tight in places and had a couple of steep sections with tight curves at the bottom. If someone fell or could not stop, it caused a safety concern for me. I would have liked to see a section with much wider runs for the beginner to feel safe, like I have seen at other resorts. Not all of the run was this tight, but you had to be able to manage these sections to get to more open areas.
The ski school and instructors were very good. We went on a BUSY day and there were several people in a group for ski school, but they learned the basics and the instructors were honest if they felt the individual should not go up the mountain. One son had a private snow board lesson and that instructor too was very honest about him not being ready for the mountain. All in all we were very happy with...
