Stumbled upon this winery while visiting Region wine bar in Sebastapol during a weekend wine tasting excursion and immediately fell in love with the Rose from Alta Orsa. When looking to head back to wine country for an overnight trip I decided to check out Alta Orsa to have some more Rose and try their other wines and was so pleasantly surprised to be able to book a winery tour and tasting.
Martin and Lucy were so communicative, quick to reply, and hospitable once we arrived. If you're looking for a down-to-earth winery and wine tasting experience you can't go wrong with Orsa/Alta Orsa. It's off the beaten path and absolutely worth it, doesn't have that commercialized feel many wineries have trended towards in the region, and they're incredibly nice people to chat with and taste wine with. Plus the wine...
Read moreWe were a group of 8 who were visiting from Cleveland, OH. We’ve been coming to Napa and Sonoma for many years, and our visit to AO was our favorite by far! Martin, the winemaker, and Lucy, gave us a tour of the beautiful vineyards, a barrel tasting, and then we sat outside under a beautiful cork tree and learned more about the history and wines of AO, formerly Topel, which is the club we first joined many years ago. We thoroughly enjoyed Martin and Lucy’s welcoming hospitality, and the wines are delicious and reasonably priced. My husband and I had recently re-joined the wine club, but several of our crew also joined after tasting the wines. If you have any hesitation about making the trek to AO, DONT, hesitate, the trip is so worth it!! Beautiful property, people and wines. We will definitely be...
Read moreMy wife and I had the pleasure of staying overnight at Alta Orsa in a camper van through Harvest Hosts, and it was our favorite part of our trip to NorCal. A beautiful setting in the mountains of Hopland, and Martin was the most gracious host. He took time from his busy harvesting schedule to give us a vineyard tour and tasting in the morning, and we enjoyed every minute of it. The wine was amazing (ordered quite a few bottles to ship back to NYC), and learning the story of Alta Orsa and their approach to winemaking was fascinating. 10/10 would do it again and recommend to anyone if you ever find yourself in...
