Mountain House Estate — Attraction in Cloverdale

This review is overdue but very important to us. My husband, Austin and I were married at the Mountain House Estate this past June. It was a magical day and we are so happy we chose to celebrate with our family and friends at MHE. From the start of our planning journey in 2019, John and Lane were incredibly supportive and communicative about everything that planning a wedding entails. They provided us with vendor lists that helped us connect with our wonderful planner, Lacey, as well as the rest of our vendors who made the day so memorable. These past 2 years have not been easy (for anyone!) and due to COVID we were not sure if we would be able to have the wedding we envisioned. John and Lane kept us up to date with everything going on in Mendocino and Sonoma county. They took the time to talk with us on the phone multiple occasions and answer all our concerns. Although it was a time of uncertainty, we felt comfortable moving forward and knew without a doubt they were doing everything they could for us and the rest of their clients.

The MHE is stunning and will forever be a special place to us. The care and love that John and Lane put into the property is clear to see! Many of our guests raved about the property and how warm and beautiful it felt. We were married under the Oak trees, which felt magical. When it came to the day of, my bridesmaids and I were able to enjoy the property for the full day (the bridal and groom suites are a real treat!). We also didn’t want our dancing to be cut short and MHE allows guests the option to stay until midnight. The flow of our wedding felt easy and many guests expressed how relaxed and comfortable it was. The location is close to Healdsburg where our guests stayed, but just far enough that we felt away and in our own unique space.

Our experience with Lane and John at Mountain House Estate was truly outstanding. Lane's efficient and prompt communication greatly simplified the coordination of our special day. Her dedication shone through, especially on our wedding day, as she went above and beyond to ensure my family and I had everything we needed.

The venue itself is not only beautifully maintained but also thoughtfully designed as a dedicated wedding space. Its layout supports a smooth flow for the ceremony and reception, with designated areas for all key activities. While Mountain House Estate requires most items to be brought in, they provide key essentials like tables, chairs, a stunning redwood bar, cocktail tables, fire pits, and patio furniture. This significantly reduces the rental burden for couples, something I did not fully understand until I got my final bill from the rental company after our wedding.

The venue's preferred vendor list was a very valuable resource for us, offering a selection of quality vendors familiar with the property. If you book at MHE, we’d highly recommend working from the preferred vendors list as much as possible as the familiarity with the property significantly reduces the likelihood of vendor-related issues on the day of your wedding.

Mountain House is truly the most incredible wedding venue filled with beautiful views, magical spaces, and loving owners, Lane and John, who have thought of EVERYTHING to make your day special. We fell in love with Mountain House the moment we stepped out of the car for our site visit and were reassured we made the right decision on our wedding day this October. Rain ended up engulfing the area the weekend of our wedding and with rain all day and night the day before, we thought our dream of getting married up at the Oak Tree Terrace would definitely be off the table. Lane greeted us with such excitement when we arrived the morning of our wedding and John was already hard at work to dry the benches that our guests would be sitting on later that afternoon. Due to the weather and COVID, we needed to rent heaters so that dinner could remain outside and our guests could be comfortable. Doing this last minute was easy as Mountain House has its own heaters available for rental! Each moment we spent at Mountain House Estate on our wedding day was magic and that is due to the incredible thought and care that John and Lane have put in and the work they are continuously doing to make it the best possible wedding venue.
