This little slice of river paradise in Fresno is my go-to escape—a peaceful, wide-open wonderland where you can roam to your heart’s content. I love paddling up and down the river; it’s the perfect way to sneak in a quick workout, and best of all, the water is never crowded with other paddlers. Though, fair warning: if it’s not over 90 degrees, the water can feel like a chilly surprise—great for cooling off, but don’t expect a spa experience! The river’s a haven for birdwatchers, with an eclectic mix of species to spot, and if you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of the river otters doing their thing. There’s trout fishing for the angler at heart, plus a tiny trail for a leisurely walk. If you’re up for an adventure, there's even a small campsite where you can spend the night under the stars, just you and the river. Bathrooms are available, though don’t expect them to be sparkling clean every time (they're a bit hit or miss). Water spouts are scattered across most of the sites, which is handy. And, a quick heads-up—if you’re bringing little swimmers, keep a close eye on them! The river is still a river, with fast currents and plenty of sneaky undercurrents that can easily sweep you off your feet. But with the right caution, it’s a magical spot to unwind and enjoy the great outdoors!

Haven't been out here in years was raised coming to Lost Lake is changed a lot it's really sad that all this place is his chain so much . I Miss the restaurant and that little store that used to be out at the front of it back when I was growing up.. it's back to being clean like it used to be when I was growing up back in the 80s. The bathrooms could use some cleaning, no T.P. But at least they weren't flooded like the last time i was there. We got visited by a whole flock of ducks it was really cute we were there for a couple days I have had a really nice time we had our picnic and we have time together and we enjoyed it.

Really nice park to just go and chill. I've gone there to fish, with no luck. There's lots of picnic tables along the river and they have a designated camp site area. There is a day use fee which I think is $5.00. The entry booth is often unoccupied so you need to put your money in an envelope and keep the receipt with you in the event the ranger comes around to check. Probably the similar with camping but not sure the fees. I often see folks there fishing and have tried it there a couple of times myself - but never had any luck. I just go out there to relax, and usually find some nice photo ops.

I've been going here since the early 1980s with my family. Back when there really was a lost lake there. Really it was more like a big swampy type area. Day time picnic tables. Bathrooms and lots of cat fishing. That lake is long gone. Dried up when California went thru one of its worst draughts. The San Joaquin river is still there of coarse. It offers floating, bbq, fishing, outdoor games if u so wish to bring them. The park is only daytime use. If you are interested in the overnight camping lost lake does offer that as well. At the pay booth turn right and follow it all the way. There you'll find overnight camp grounds. Motor homes, fifth wheels, and trucks with tents are all welcome. You may have to make reservations if they still accept them. This I know nothing about. Might want to...
