This casino used to have a fantastic buffet that drew gamblers and non-gamblers to the property. They removed this feature and have made no adaptations, as other valley and Las Vegas Casinos have, to restart a buffet. In addition, they have severely curtailed their normal food menu to the most basic and limited choices, eliminating healthy choices such as fruit, vegetables in favor of fatty american and hispanic dishes. Further, the food that is prepared is generally of low quality.
Not surprisingly, the casino that used to be full every day, is now a ghost town save for the Friday and Saturday night drinking crowd. Their employees complain, they feel it in their wallets. As far as myself and my wife, she no longer goes and I go once every two weeks to play some free play for a few minutes then leave. In addition, they appeared happy to enforce masking policies when, as an Indian casino on sovereign land, they were not required to do so. Their management appears out of touch with important elements of their business, and the lack of patrons reflects. this.
Jan 14 Update:
Even worse, now they have closed their cafe 54 completely. They state its due to some problem with workers. But the workers and servers I know who work there would not have "quit" unless induced by the Casinos. Even more ridiculous, is the building of their new offices in the back. I think they felt it good business decision to spend their money on more lavish offices for management, while at the same time eliminating first the buffet (they didn't want to pay to bring customers in), now the restaurant and one bar. To me, this seems to have resulted in low customer traffic, which affects revenue, which let's regular floor workers make less or get let go. You see the managers walking around in the mornings dressed nicely in an empty casino. Exactly what do you think their employment fate is, coming up?
While they let employees go left and right, offer really no food choices save for the minimal selection at the grill, they have closed another bar as well. I see Augustine out of business in a few months. Perhaps they made a vaccine mandate and some employees refused? Perhaps they have no more money? They took a great business and seemed to have ruined it. I gamble and play all over the southwest from San Diego to las vegas to Reno, etc. I can see the Casinos that flourish. I haven't seen one go out of business yet, but Augustine has all the looks of one that might.
The response that they are keeping customers safe by enforcing mask mandates etc, that somehow this addresses the lack of food venues, the closing of a bar, is completely false. They should have looked out for their employees by keeping the things that bring customers in to the casino. To be honest, this was my favorite casinos in California before they started with the nonsense. Very disappointing for me to see it degenerate into what it...

The restaurant: soso. The waiter tripped over his own feet walking towards our table with our drinks and practically threw the tray all over us. Husband got the worst of it getting a full shower of iced beverages sprayed all over him. The waiter proceeded to attempt to dry my husband off reaching to dab his cloth at the wet stain on his pants in the nether region... not kewl! Hubby caught his hand and said its kewl, I can get it...
Although hubby definitely got the worst of it, we all got wet and were disappointed... I tried to make light of it by telling waiter it was alright, an accident, I figured he had been working an all nighter... he informed me that his shift had just begun. I quipped something to tge effect of "wow, its gonna be a long day" and was scowled at before he rolled his eyes at me and tramped off. (No doubt to refill his portable ice shower tray...)
Hubbies meal was comped, charged for the drinks tho!! Go figure!!
The staff is pretty friendly as far as the casino floor goes! Quick to smile and great service overall.
Security is overzealous and borderline rude for no reason...imagine if they felt they did have a reason!!

Read moreMy May promotional mailer was received and I had $90 in complementary play each Wednesday in May. I also had a smaller amount of complementary play on Sunday. Today I received an email that my complementary play was adjusted so the $90 was reduced to $65, A $25 difference!. I have never had a slap in the face like this from all the casinos I've been to nationwide. This was a very very poor decision because now effective this review I will never set in that casino again. now I know the real meaning of "Indian giver".' Good luck to all!
Well, this goes to show where Augustine Casino truly stands. I have been longtime Player of Barona, Viejas, Pechanga, Spotlight 29, Tortoise Rock And several other Indian casinos in California and Arizona. I am old enough to have played at Barona when Barona was the big tent Casino in San Diego. With that being said, you are absolutely out of your mind. If you think one hair on my body is racist to a Indian person or person of descent. This clearly demonstrates you do not know the true meaning of the word! I strongly encourage you to educate yourself on the true meaning of "racist" It is an extreme hot hot button with me as the word is inappropriately misused and overused. Moving on, here is a copy of the reply from one of your hosts. Apparently you did not read it clearly! The offer was only reinstated for one week not the remaining of the month so with that being said, I encourage you to get your facts altogether before you start throwing stones.
You all have a nice day And...
