Feels so isolated but the drive is worth the views, access, & unique ecological & human history. Came in the deep summer heat & found a sole, friendly, eager ranger who happily answered all our questions. An adventurous destination in a forgotten corner of CA. Literally nothing else around for miles, so be brave—and prepared.

I always support parks especially with such great history. If your and outdoor person who likes to explore and learn about the history this is the place. If you plan to have some food outdoors have to warn you , you will be surrounded by flies. Saw a giant wolf spider by the size of it it must have a buffet of flies lol.

This is a cool place to learn about the history and makeup of Salton Sea. The park ranger working here was super nice and shared a lot of interesting information about the history of the park with us. You can also pick up a nice little momento here as well

The Visitor's Center is a small but interesting place to visit. The Salton Sea seems deserted and isolated as you're driving by. At the center, you see how actually large it is and where there are places to go to that aren't empty Desert fields (lots of dates and other fruit) that surround the sea. They also had an interesting display of the poop of the natural residents so you could recognize if you're near a possible predator. Coyote, bobcat, rattlesnake, local mice and rats, lizard and roadrunner. I laughed at first but realized that it could come in handy if you saw signs of a bobcat. I would recommend this place to everyone who has never been to...

The Salton Sea visitor center was great!! Me and my girlfriend stopped in with only a little bit of knowledge about the area and Robert, one of the park rangers, was there to greet us with so much great info! He was really fun to talk to and is really passionate about the area. The Salton Sea is such a weird and cool place that deserves everyone's attention. Highly recommend...
