If you love to hike, by all means be here.
Edited a year later (from 5 stars to 1): I’ve been going here for a while now. And there are too many dog owners who just carelessly unleash their—big—dogs. They almost always say, “he/she is friendly.” Well I know they are “friendly” until they jump on my kids. They are good dogs until they kill a child. Of course, the sign reads, “Dogs on leash at all times.” But 95% of people don’t follow the leash laws. The scary thing is that even the park employees don’t leash their dogs. One of them ran toward me and my family because the owner (in Oregon Ridge uniform) carelessly unleashed it. Then it touched my legs. But the employee in the uniform would just smile with no apology. I couldn’t believe it. I would’ve kicked the dog if it ran toward my kids instead of me. It’s unsafe for both people and the dogs, but they just don’t realize it. So what’s the point of the law if no one follows it? Although I appreciate 5% of the owners who actually leash their dogs, I wouldn’t recommend Oregon Ridge. The park itself is beautiful. But I don’t feel safe to go hiking with my family. They must work on their...
Read moreWonderful park for hiking. There are several miles of trails, from easy to moderately challenging (at least for us seniors). I advise NOT to go after a heavy rain unless you have hiking boots, as the area can get really muddy. There are several play areas for kids Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after (though some owners are too irresponsible to bother, most comply). Four stream crossings currently on the ivy Hill Trail. None too difficult, though younger kids might find them quite challenging. A couple of paths are closed and a revised path looks underway for the Ivy Hill (yellow) trail. Not certain when that will happen, but it will eliminate or help with the stream crossings. Hiking the Logger's and Ivy Hill Trails is about 4.5 miles 550 foot elevation change, and well maintained (disregarding the...
Read moreTypically, we have nothing but good things to say about Oregon Ridge Park, but this review is more of a warning than a review of the park and facilities. We had made a reservation for a family gathering to take place in August. 2 Days after making the reservation, the consensus of the family was to postpone the gathering following Gov Hogans speech about the increase in covid cases due to family gatherings. Oregon Ridge reimbursed the deposit but held $100. I understand there is company policy to follow, but due to circumstances out of our control, we would have thought in good faith they would have reimbursed the full deposit amount as we were just under the required 30 day cancellation time frame. Please be very cautious about making reservations at the park unless your 100% sure you will...
