I ordered a battery for my truck online. I put in the information for my truck in their system and it brought up the battery that was specifically for my truck. During check-out, I opted for the free in-store installation that was offered. When I picked up the battery the clerk just handed the battery to me. Now my first thought was to ask him to put the battery in because it was cold outside and I was in my church clothes. But then I realized that I probably had a better chance at putting the battery in without getting dirty than him putting the battery in correctly.
I pulled the old battery out and quickly realized that the new one was quite a bit smaller than the old one. I examined both batteries and saw that the new one had quite a bit less cold cranking amps. I went back in the store to verify I got the right battery. The clerk asked my year, make and model. I told him it was a 2004 Ford F150, to which he replied, "Is that a pickup?" This was the moment I was glad to install the battery myself.
Long story short, his supervisor found the correct size (apparently she picked a Canada option that gives more CCAs) and it cost me an additional $15.
Also, when I first got to the store I asked if they could check my alternator. The supervisor told me the machine was broken and the manager planned to have it fixed the following week. I vasilated on rating them 2 or 3 stars because they advertised free installation and free alternator check, but they were nice and it was close to closing time so I gave them the benefit of the doubt and went with 3 stars.
Edit: (2/28/19) I dropped it to two stars because I was told a manager would be contacting me and, after a month and a half,...
Read moreThese guys have some stuff to figure out. I made an "appointment" online to have my iPhone screen replaced. It let me choose the time, so I picked 10:00 AM on Sat. I was mildly impressed when I immediately recieved both an email and a phone call confirming my appointment. That was the last moment of being impressed. The website clearly says that repair takes approx. 45 min. No problem. I showed up at 9:55. When the person got done asking all the questions and tested the phone to make sure all the functions work, she says "it should be done around 2:30, is that ok?' She further explains that there are many people ahead of me. I replied that's not possible as I made an appointment. The guy next to her at the counter says "Yeah - it's wierd" I tried to explain that I had a very busy day going, as I was planning my mothers funeral, and needed my phone. That fell on deaf ears. At a few minutes after 2 they called my wifes phone to say the repair was complete. The new screen looks nice, but I have had a couple apps just randomly close by them self. Not sure what that is. I'm not blaming them for that. So, on Monday I receive an email from Batteries Plus saying I missed my appointment and that I need to reschedule it. Really? I...
Read moreiPhone user? CAUTION: Do not get a battery or any repairs done on your phone here. I took my phone in to get the battery replaced, everything seemed to go smoothly. On pickup, I raised the concern of an error message stating the battery was not genuine. At that point I was informed that they don't have access to genuine apple parts, but the message should go away. While I accepted this fact, I also noticed the battery was charging very slowly, even after multiple charge cycles. I confirmed with a charger that displays output the fact that it was only charging at ~5 watts. 1/2 to 1/3 the speed that a genuine battery would. At this point, I called in to the store. Kevin answered and essentially said that there are warnings all over their website that state they can't get oem parts, and there's nothing he can do about it. I tried to cordially reason with him as I will definitely need to get the battery replaced at an authorized repair shop. After a couple minutes, he said "I have other things to do" and hung up. I called twice again, but the calls were ignored. Absolutely insane unprofessionalism. Zero customer service skills, and far below average competence vs most other shops. Very...
