Sunday, we went in to Black Sheep Sporting Goods in CDA to purchase a couple of kayaks. They had one on the floor that was the style we were looking for. We found a clerk. He double checked for us; their inventory showed that they should have two. No others were in the store or supply room. He talked to the store manager and he said he would try their local warehouse. Hopefully they find the other one there. It will take another trip back to CDA, but it's worth it. The people in Black Sheep are always very helpful.
Update...
Unfortunately, the manager didn't get back to us until Thursday (although he did try calling Wednesday...the volume on my phone was low & I had yet to set up the voicemail...so, I'm only deducting one star rather than two). Like I mentioned above, the late call was unfortunate, as we had driven to Spokane Wednesday after work and purchased a kayak from a competing company.
Another update...this time I'm deducting 2 more stars...
We had to drive back to CDA (an hour away) a few weeks after we purchased the kayak as it was missing the storage bucket. We found this issue when we were preparing things to go out on the water the first time. The details that come with the kayak specifically state that the bucket is included with the model kayak that we purchased. The manager that I spoke with was very confrontational and told me that they wouldn't do anything because of the 6 kayaks of that model that they received, all of them were missing the bucket. It seems like a retail store would contact the vendor they purchased from and request the missing pieces. Additionally, the retail store could contact the vendor on behalf of the customer and request the missing pieces rather than saying "oh well, too bad, we got it that way". It seems that Black Sheeps good customer service lasts only long enough to make a sale.
So, you're down to 2 stars...let's look at it as room for...
Read moreThey always claim they have the best prices. I've found them comparable to almost Bass Pro Shops (Cabela's) and other sporting goods stores in prices over the last few years since they moved into the old Sportsman's Warehouse building. I'm giving three stars based on that. I like the staff because they're usually friendly and helpful, but I've found the prices so steep on a ton of things in this store. I think what got to me is since they opened the old store as an "outlet" and it's cleared out items, there are the same products that are potentially older, in battered shape, or being "cleared out", for the same price as the "newer" item at the main store. Pretty deceitful in that sense. Whenever I've gone to try on shoes, they usually only have 1-2 of the 4 shoes that are on display that I'm interested in on more than a few occasions. Carhartt pants in my husband's size is consistently sold out every time he stops in... we shop direct with Carhartt now and it's actually cheaper and free ground shipping. We still shop here for a few things, but we used to ONLY shop here as a loyal local and that's changed a lot in the last few years of finding better prices elsewhere. If they had better sales I would consider stopping in more, but their sales are basically like Albertsons or Safeway.... "Here's what you can pay with our club card, which is basically the normal price somewhere else without a club card." Buyer be...
Read moreMy wife and I were in search of a G19X MOS. We located one online at the Post Falls Cabelas. Our experience was nothing short of horrible which was a great reminder of why I do not like shopping at Cabelas… Now moving on to Blacksheep. I called a few local FFL’s from the Cabelas parking lot to try and locate the firearm in Stock so we could handle one in person before purchasing.
Upon our arrival to Blacksheep, we were met with a warm greeting. Once making our way to the firearms counter, we were met by Mike who was very friendly and knowledgeable. Within 10 mins a sale was made with zero issues or hiccups. Mike was very professional as were the rest of the team at the counter. Black sheep was willing to price match Cabelas for the 19X MOS which was very much appreciated. The employees of Blacksheep are exemplary and set the standard for how a sporting goods store should operate. Would definitely recommend anyone in North Idaho check this business out (It’s...
