Rudest employees ever. I recently got a membership, and both times I've been since were terrible to the point I can't bring myself to go back, even though I would like to get some of the great stuff that's there for great deals. I didn't want to do this but it's bothering me so much I have to get it off my chest. The first time I went, I was with my boyfriend who had a return to do before we went shopping. I didn't bundle up because I didn't want to overheat while shopping, and walking from the car was fine. However, there was a line for the returns, and it was placed just barely inside the huge garage type door with a freezing wind blowing in strongly. I was just wearing a shirt and leggings, so I stepped about ten feet away out of the flow of moving people so I could wait for my boyfriend but not freeze my ass off. The lady doing returns, Jamie, very rudely yelled at me to get back in line. I said something about just trying to stay warm, but she yelled over me and said I had to be in line. I understand this must be policy and they need to stay organized, but I really think it would have been ok if I stood ten feet away in the warmth, since I personally didn't have a return to do and was just waiting for my boyfriend until we could shop together. It would have even been fine if she hadn't been so rude about it. In fact, afterward, we started to go shopping but I was so upset by the rudeness I wanted to just leave so we didn't end up actually shopping. I went alone next time. I hadn't seen any signs saying "no credit cards" such as winco has, so I had only brought my credit card. Of course when I tried to pay it said "error", and the self checkout attendant came over. At first she said the machines didn't take Mastercard, but I ended up figuring out that it was a credit vs debit issue. The whole interaction was rude and standoffish on her part. She started carrying off all my stuff, and I asked if I could just keep all my stuff there for 15 minutes so I could go get my debit card really quick. She said yes, showed me a cart nearby, and said it would all be right there when I got back, no problem. I said "ok I'll be back within 15 minutes!" and ran out. I quickly got my debit card and ran back in, within 15 minutes. I went over to where my stuff had just been 15 minutes ago, and it was all gone. She saw me looking, and laughed at me, saying "oh, we JUST put everything back!" Now, I know that it's not their obligation to hold on to stuff for me, but it was all in a cart tucked out of the way where it wasn't interfering with anything, and she specifically said yes and that it would be there. Then when I got back, she was very obviously mocking me and reveling in the fun little thing where she got to put all my stuff back so I'd have to go all over the store and get it again if I wanted it. If she had been nice AT ALL, I would have been totally fine with it and understanding that they have a system going and don't want to hold on to stuff for 15 minutes, but she was SO RUDE and then laughing at me. Overall, it's been a couple of interactions where I felt like the employees had something negative going on inside themselves and wanted to take it out on a customer as a power trip or fun bullying type thing. I know this place is busy and they have a lot to deal with but I felt that they went out of their way to be rude. I just value it so much when employees are nice and treat you like a person. I'm too sensitive I guess, but the thought of going to this costco horrifies me now and I don't think I will go...
ย ย ย Read moreOf course Costco has the quality, of course it has the bulk quantity we all need these days, but what ever happened to the courteous customer service here? Did it ever exist? My daughter granddaughter and I came to pick up a few essential items this past Sunday; yes a very busy day of the week to shop here but nonetheless, we has planner this trip in advance. We were used to the crowded conditions and near misses with carts driven by crazed customers, so imagine our relief to find all of our shopping list items were stocked up and ready to go! Let me stop myself from rambling and get to my main point.... The management at Cosco needs to recognize that they have a serious issue with a few of their long time cashiers/service clerks!! I know firsthand that these employees are purposely and blatantly rude for no apparant reason, also, these certain employees do not explain why they refuse to take customers with 15 items or less through their quick check out option lanes. My daughter and I stood in line waiting to be directed to the speedy check-out line since we only had 14 items....after waiting in the proper area and line, my daughter was told by one of the cashier's that she couldn't go through her check out since she had too many items! My daughter's pointed out that we had been told to wait in her specific area in addition to letting the cashier know her tone was condescending and rude ...mind you, there's are NO SIGNS STATING THE ITEM LIMIT FOR SPEEDY CHECKOUT...HENCE ITS LEFT UP TO THE DISCRETION OF THE CASHIER ??!! So in summation, we didn't stand there and argue with this rude employee, my daughter went to stand in yet ANOTHER line just to appease this cashier who seriously had no customers waiting in her line by this time....I was flabbergasted, my granddaughter was confused and upset so we went to wait in the food court. I'm telling y'all...my family had been shipping at our local Costco for years and then steady DECLINE in courteous, decent customer service is appalling! If the bulk prices weren't so good we wouldn't ever come back! Management needs to get a grip on these employees who forget that Costco customer's are the reason...
ย ย ย Read moreSigned up for a Costco credit card through Citibank, the process involves getting a paper voucher to use during your visit that day, and then awaiting for actual card in snail mail. What they don't tell you is that they cancel the original membership, your new card serves as the membership card as well. USPS bounced the delivery back twice, so didn't have physical card for 6 weeks! And didn't have access to the store for 6 weeks! We were planning a camping trip, intending to use this card on the road, talked to Melissa in person at Costco membership, who informed me if I save all my receipts, she promised to transfer the funds from my other card to Costco to get reward credit. Did exactly as she told me, only to find out on the busiest and hottest day of the season, that there was nothing she could do. She spoke with such confidence, I assumed she was the supervisor. Lo and behold, Kim was the supervisor next to her, coming back with attitude, going to her manager with the promise to cover the gas receipts only and pay for membership for next year in the fall. After spending 30 minutes of my valuable time, she came back and said she could do nothing, stonewalling me into submission, as if Costco is an absolute necessity to the human race. As I was waiting, I watched the parade of consumers exiting, and was reminded of the cattle yards in Fort Worth, Texas during the beef boom. At least that time gave me time to adjust my perspective, realizing that, just like coffee, and alcohol, and opioid abuse runs rampant, this is also another form of substance abuse. I'm calling out to you, my peeps! Wean yourself, BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE! Needless to say, I have to submit to the powers that be at this hallowed institution, but only until I pay off the card, and renounce my membership. Good luck to you all, may this serve as a preemptive warning for the Walmart/c Costco/GMO mentality that pervades the very fabric of our society. I will miss the $5...
