Kootenai County Driver's License Office (Coeur d'Alene) — Attraction in Coeur d'Alene

If I handled business like the Coeurdalene DMV, I would be out of business. The wait time is worse than going to the doctor by 6 times. It's the only place where your wait time actually goes up as your watching the screen. I also think it's an invasion of privacy that you have to register your phone number last 4 digits as identification. Seriously? There's only so many prefixes and I'm sure someone can put 2 and 2 together. If you have a trailer or large recreation vehicle plan on parking a mile away as there is no parking for this type of vehicle. Just received a new license for 8 years thinking it was going to have a star on it, Which is going to be needed after 2020 for certain applications, Only to find out it does not have the needed star. Looks like I'm having to go back through the whole process again.Ugh! Need to call to talk to someone?? Don't waste your time as they don't answer the phone! The only reason I gave it one star rating is because there is no way to give less and I will give credit to the lady behind the counter as she was friendly. Kootenai county DMV.... get...

Kootenai County keeps raising are taxes and fees everytime we turn around. So why are we having to recieve services from a DMV that is pathetic. The facility is way too small for the influx in population. Yes not all but quite a few of the agents have a chip on their shoulder. I applied for my commercial drivers license the 2nd week of November, and it's Jan 4th 2017 and I still haven't received it? I went into their office to find out what the status is, and the agents told me I would have to wait with the other 60 people there to apply for a license or take a test. This is un acceptable. I walked out. Then I went next door to renew my tags for my pickup, $95 freaking dollars for a year! All these out of state people keep blabbing about how affordable it is to register vehicles,and so on. That's double what it was 5 years ago!!! All the hunting and fishing licenses are going up again in 2018! This place will never be the same. Smog testing and fees will happen in the next 5 years. I almost never write reviews, but this is totally necessary. I heard the hype about how absurd the wait times were at the CDA DMV ever since they closed the post falls location. To my knowledge, this is now the only DMV for approximately 75,000 people in the CDA area. I was told that if you come in at 7:30am on Tues, Wed, or Thurs, you will have the shortest wait time. I arrived Tuesday morning at 7:15am, and there was already a line over 20 people long. Even arriving at 7:15am, I did not get my number called until 8:35am. The waiting room was so packed that it was hot and miserable and many people couldn't even sit down. I counted over 30 people come up to the door, look inside, and turn away in disgust. The only thing good I have to say is that the staff was pleasant to me. Seriously though, why does it have to be like this? When I walked out, one poor guy had ticket number 90. The staff was currently serving number 47, and averaging about 15-20 people per hour. Something needs to...
