Mineral Ridge is a fantastic scenic trail located near Lake Coeur d'Alene in Idaho. This trail is an excellent option for anyone looking for an invigorating hike that offers breathtaking views of the lake and its surroundings. One of the most impressive features of the Mineral Ridge trail is the stunning views of Lake Coeur d'Alene that can be seen from various points along the hike. As you make your way up the trail, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views of the shimmering blue waters below. The filtered forest surrounding the trail also adds a tranquil element to the hike, making it a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Another highlight of the Mineral Ridge trail is the hike along the ridge itself. This section of the trail offers a unique perspective of the lake and the surrounding area, as well as an exciting challenge for hikers. The views from the ridge are simply breathtaking, and the hike itself is a great workout. Along the trail, you'll also find an abundance of wildflowers, adding to the beauty of the hike. The colors and fragrances of the flowers provide a delightful sensory experience for hikers. In addition to the wildflowers, you'll likely encounter some playful chipmunks scurrying around the trail. These little critters are adorable and add to the charm of the hike. Overall, the Mineral Ridge trail is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a scenic and challenging hike in the Lake Coeur d'Alene area. The views of the lake, the filtered forest, and the wildflowers make this trail a must-see destination for hikers of all levels. And don't forget to keep an eye out for the chipmunks!

Great hike! It took us around 1 1/2 hours to complete with a handful of breaks. I brought walking sticks & plenty of water this time & that really helped me, but I did see some people out there walking 10x as fast as I could, no water, no hiking shoes, purse (no backpack), seemingly no sweat. I saw families with little kids too.. I'm not in the greatest shape, but I'm not in horrible shape either. For me I'd say this is a medium difficulty trail and would give it a 3 out of 5 stars for the view. We saw a deer on the trail and the views of both the trees and Lake Coeur d'alene were worth it. Parking kinda sucked, but people come and go all the time it seems, so chances are a space will open up soon enough if it's full when you get there. *We did not take the extra 2 mile hike on the Wilson Trail, but will next time. **The women's bathroom (perma porta potty) stunk like death warmed over, I'd say avoid it at all costs or be prepared to plug your nose.

The diverse flora includes tall pines and seasonal wildflowers, adding to the trail's charm. So far, my favorite hiking trail in this area. I've been only on the main loop which is 3.3 miles long. The first half is all uphill so be prepared for a good climb. There are benches alongside the trail so if you need to rest you can do so in comfort. At the top there's a view of Wolf Lodge Bay and a nice bench alongside a three-sided structure called Caribou Cabin. Then you get to walk further uphill (which I've never done yet) or walk along the ridge toward Lake Coeur d'Alene. That's a wonderful walk. Exhilarating, really. There is some evidence of mining activity still there to be seen. At the end of the ridge there's a bench to sit at while viewing Lake Coeur d'Alene... then you descend on the last part of the loop to the parking area. The only drawback to this trail is the limited amount of parking. It is a very popular trail and sometimes the parking lot is full. Still, it is a great place for a walk in the woods... especially if you like to...
