My daughter went there a couple days ago as part of a field trip with her school and was very disappointed with the way she and my wife were treated in the gift shop. My daughter wanted to buy a necklace, post cards and a unique quarter. She took her items to the cashier and was told, by the volunteer working there, that it would be a minute due to "manager" being on the phone since the credit card machine shared the phone line. The volunteer immediately informed the manager that my daughter was waiting. After approximately five minutes the volunteer again reminded the manager that there was a customer waiting. Again, the manager continued her conversation despite customers waiting. Finally, after approximately five more minutes the volunteer made one more attempt to sway the manager to get off the phone. By this point my wife was frustrated and said she no longer wanted the items. The volunteer offered to "give" them the items for no charge. My daughter declined the offer and they left. Shortly after leaving, the manager ran out and met them in the parking lot. Her response was "I was trying to by a $2 million piece of property, I am sorry I couldn't get off the phone. But, you can come back and buy the items now." By that time my wife had no intention of returning due to the poor customer service they received. Maybe it's time for upper management (City of CDA? ) to intervene to assure that personal business does not interfere with people interested in...
Read moreGreat little museum. Nice history of the 3-county area of N. Idaho. Several exhibits downstairs about the history of the first nations, American expansion, and into contemporary history of the area. Of note: The WWII POW history in Farragut, the Circling Raven prophecy story, and the sordid history of organized labor and the assassination of a former Idaho governor (I didn't know that one!).
$5 entry summer of 2025 as the upstairs ambulatory exhibit was not installed (normal entry is $6). Don't really care that it may not have been "worth" $5 (per one in my party), as this sort of thing needs to be preserved. Great little educational experience again in a historical home (moved to its present location)....
Read moreI stopped by the museum to see the new Hollywood of the North and was pleasantly surprised. They have a Oscar and an Emmy from a local actress (not to mention her book) ive never seen one up close in person. The music is a nice touch, they are playing 1920s to go with the theme of the exhibit. It was great to meander and listen. It made the experience all around better. The prices are still very low so i had more money to spend in the gift shop. Bullet razor made by a local? Yes please. Sick pot holders from hayden? Yea..in my bag! Give it a whirl if you havent...
