N40 Is where I go to keep my chickens and turkeys fed. I have for over 10 years. But, now that I have to shop the Coeur d'Alene store instead of dropping into the Omak store any time I needed something.
I would say it all about convince, but it's anything but convenient living nearer this store than my preferred, Omak store.
Coeur d'Alene is almost always out of the only feed that All of my critters, All like.
I have to buy multiple bags in Omak or Airway Heights, WA, and lug those huge bags between Omak, Airway, and Coeur d'Alene just to feed my chickens and my turkeys in Cheney. It's exhausting not to mention more in WA because of the higher costs and taxes.
The Coeur d'Alene store does have the Airway Heights and Omak stores beat on overall selection (inside) store wide, just not the meatbird crumbles I'm always needing. Seriously, the feed is a need.
The biggest issue with them us actually at check out. They have the slowest, worst check out set up of any North 40 I've been to, Ever. They actually are 2nd from the worst (after Dollar General by Reardan, WA).
I'm only a few minutes from the store, but I can't just pop in and grab a bag of feed, scratch, or critter vitamins, etc, during my lunch hour at this store, because, they only have 1 speed (and then there's no speed).
I can be Mrs McSpeedy, grabbing what I need but then I'm stuck in checkout behind just 2 or 3 people and those people always have some sort of check out issue, company to purchase order through, or the cashier doesn't know how to look up prices on things not kept in system, like the many syringes and needles they sell. Their prices are in a book at 1 checkstand, that they share. Seriously causes another slowdown. So much so, that when the cashier enters the price and it's very wrong by several dollars over the actual price, you just pay it and walk away as it would take too much time to have her delete the sale, go back to the book and try to remember it again and hope she remembered the numbers correct this time, so you can get paid and out the door so you won't be late getting back to work. It's just wrong and a no-win situation
I HAVE TO shop on my lunch hour because I'm not off of work til 7 pm. N40 doesn't stay open in CdA after 7 pm (Another star lost there...) like small town Omak who is open til 8 on weekdays.
I'm not particularly "fond" of the Airway Heights N40, but as busy as that 1 is... It's not crazy in the parking lot. I almost always get near or up front parking and I can usually get a normal cashier, that can do a simple check out and stay at her register to check me out, uninterrupted.
I have had an occasional time here or there. The shelf was empty, but nowhere near as often, and their store has the best outdoor selections.
Omaks store, however smaller and with less over all selections throughout the whole store than the other 2, it at least only on rare occasion, does it run out of my meatbird crumbles, which it always gets back in fairly quick.
Coeur d'Alene store was out every time I went there to get feed for over 2 months. I buy feed or scratch every other week in 40 or 50# bags. So, yeah, I help keep the company in business.
The least N40 could do for me is keep my feed in stock once in a while and, Most Importantly... put in a check-out-only lane or express checkout lane. Keep people with returns, complicated checkouts, accounts to verify for purchases, etc for the customer service counters, please.
Keep it quick and simple for those of us who have a schedule to keep.
Keep it better, re-stocked for those of us who have to buy bulk bags semi frequently. Again, on that time issue, I can't keep coming back to see if their feed is on the shelf yet, especially if I can't get in and out very fast.
I'm going to have to find a new feed store if this is the normal for the Coeur...
Read moreBrought in a pair of boots to return that I bought for my husband at North 40 in Ponderay. Called ahead to double-check that it was OK that I was bringing them from another store.
They didn't want to accept the return because there was dirt on the bottom of the boots. They said that they couldn't resell them because of the dirt. Keep in mind, these boots were on clearnance at ponderay, probably because they were dirty when i bought them (but im not sure if thats why they were discounted)... They also said that we should try on the boots in store so that doesn't happen (obviously, if my husband was available to try on the boots he would have tried them on, but he works full time and needed boots so I picked them out) We told them that he never wore the boots outside, he sat on the couch and tried them on, and that the boots had been purchased almost exactly 5 hours earlier, and he wouldn't have had time to wear them outside, being that he gets off work at 4 (return happened at 6:30). I said that it wasn't an issue and that we could take the boots back to Ponderay, we were in CDA, so it worked out well to return the boots there. To this, the manager, Carol Jane, asked why we didn't just take them to Ponderay, and I said again that we can, no big deal. She kept arguing with us about whether or not they were worn outside, and we again stated that we could take them. Carol Jane then said, "We will take them just this one time, but next time, don't try to return boots worn outside or just try them on in store." The other cashier also stated that if I buy boots that are dirty, I need to make sure to have them write that on the receipt. Again, I was buying the boots for my husband, I did not inspect each boot for dirt. Overall a horrible experience, the cashier and the manager both had terrible attitudes and seemed to be looking to pick a...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting North 40 Outfitters, where I was fortunate enough to be fitted for a compound bow by Marshall. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that I was in the hands of a true expert. Marshall's patience and masterful experience shone through as he guided me through the fitting process.
He took the time to understand my needs, preferences, and skill level, ensuring that I would find the perfect bow for my archery pursuits. What impressed me most was his ability to share his extensive knowledge in a way that was accessible to everyone, regardless of their experience level. Marshall seamlessly blended modern techniques with his "old school ways," dropping invaluable nuggets of wisdom that even seasoned archers would appreciate.
As we adjusted the bow together, he explained each step, detailing the importance of proper fit and alignment. His passion for archery was infectious, and I found myself learning not just about the equipment, but about the art and tradition behind the sport. Marshall's guidance made the experience enjoyable and educational, leaving me feeling confident and excited about my new bow.
Overall, my experience with Marshall at North 40 Outfitters was exceptional. His expertise, patience, and genuine enthusiasm for archery transformed a simple fitting into a memorable lesson. I left the store not only with an incredible compound bow but also with a deeper understanding and appreciation of the sport. I can’t recommend Marshall and North 40 Outfitters enough for anyone looking to gear up for their next...
