Willoughby Heritage Farm is one of the coolest, most unique places I have ever been. It's a hidden gem tucked away inside urban Collinsville like a secret doorway.
Once inside, you can see rolling hills and forests for miles. They have 3 different tiers of color-coded hiking trails, including one for beginners. They have chickens, guineas, a big rooster, young goats that love attention, a happy pig named Hank, a pony and mules ( no touchy ), several adult goats that were super friendly and, in my opinion, the star of the show... Hannah the heifer, the sweetest cow. I called her name and, with a thundering "MooooOOOO!", She came walking up from behind the hills.
Hannah loves scritches and head rubs and she is my new best friend. You should go make her your best friend too.
If for whatever reason animals, hiking, and vistas aren't your thing, they also have a wild garden that you can almost get lost in with so many plan5s I've never seen before. Giant alien-looking plants. They also have giant sunflowers. And because they take such good care of the farm and stay free of modern chemicals, the garden was full of friendly bees, butterflies and even MONARCHS!!!
If you have even the slightest interest in plants, animals, or just nature in general, do yourself a favor and visit this FREE...
Read moreI just rented the farm for my wedding in September. Jerry was helpful ahead of time, but some information was either not told to me or wasn't clear so we had many issues once we got there to set up. The lady who was there was rude and not helpful and accused us -during my wedding- of stealing a walker. We rented the house for taking pictures before the wedding and the house was dirty and there were items that were all over the beds and puking out of the closets. Other than that, the grounds was a decent venue. But i would recommend that you spend your money elsewhere seeing as though they tack on charges for every little thing and you are just paying for a barn and some grass , they don't really provide...
Read moreWow, the conservation and educational work being done at this farm is heartwarming and appreciated! I initially went to walk the beautiful trails but found so much more than I expected. The animals were cute and fun for the kids to feed and I can't wait to go back to see the gardens in their full beauty. I am also an old tool geek so you can imagine how I felt walking into a couple of the barns filled with old farm relics! I can see families, work retreats, schools, and anyone wanting a fun and interesting place to go, coming here. Lots of picnic areas, playground, fire pits, and trails to discover in addition to the farm and gardens. Thank you to the staff and volunteers for providing such a...
