You can drive all the way up! I know its hard to believe but yes you can! Rent that car and go all the way up. We came and it was a bit foggy but after 20 minute waited it has cleared up and the 360 degree views vere stunning, breath-taking and better than any other elevated spot we visited in the bay area. Its windy up there so take a wind proof jacket. If you can, aim for a super sunny day to drive all the way up. You can see planes departing and arriving in detail.

You can drive to the top (maybe only on weekends) and get a pretty good view of the city and the surrounding Bay Area. It’s windy and a bit chilly atop.
