This is a very nice winery that's relatively new just on the edge of King George and not too far from Colonial Beach. This location is really more of a place for wine sampling with the majority of their grapes being grown and processed in the Shenandoah Valley. This is another winery that's sticking with flight's of wine for sampling instead of tasting. They do flight's of 8, 6, or 4, and we had a fight of 4 and 8 so we could taste all of their wines (except for one very sweet wine). All the wines we tasted were pretty good with the white Good Luck Cellars - Chardonel, and the red Back Porch Country Red being my favorite. Anyway they have a very nice barn type building they use for tasting and a kitchen with a lot of selections for food (forgot to take a picture of the menu). Definitely worth a drive to visit for an afternoon.

We very much enjoyed our time at Backporch! We did the 8 tasting sample with 4 whites and 4 reds. The reds were decent (nothing I didn't enjoy finishing) but it was the whites that shown. Every single one was spectacular and we had trouble narrowing down which one to take home. The staff were all also very kind and accommodating. The pizza wasn't anything to write home about, but we appreciate their offer to put toppings on one half to accommodate different diet restrictions. The liver magic was a nice touch. Definitely a venue we're excited to visit again.

Super nice place. Good wine, good food. Owners are absolutely wonderful people. We were given tickets for our anniversary by our son and his girlfriend. We had never been or heard about this awesome place. We were out there for our 35th wedding anniversary and when they found out. They stood up and announced it to all the guests and then came up to us with a bottle of 🍷 wine. We cannot say enough good. We will be back. Can't wait!!!

Honestly, when you first pull down the country road that leads to Backporch, you look out at the fields and pray that where you're headed lives up to the picturesque setting. And friends, it absolutely does. The first glimpse of the barn feels like stepping back in time - rolling up to a barn-raising or the neighborhood harvest celebration. Inside, the people are charming and polite, the food is delicious, and damn do they make a nice glass of wine (and cider!). It's a humble setting, a presentation style that's comfy and casual, and sometimes (like today) there is the bonus porch vibe due to featured live music. We are in this region somewhat by chance, but by gosh if we didn't get lucky finding this gem. May just be my opinion on a lovely late summer afternoon, but give it a shot - it's well worth it...
