A wonderful and well marked trail near the Rappahannock River. We had so much fun that, even though our kids didn't realize how far we were going, we were able to get them to make a 4 mile hike between the river views and the Hollow Tree and everything. TNC and the Virginia DWR have done a great job of making these trails very easy to identify and follow, and the six car parking lot had ample space because this is a hidden gem. There are no facilities other than the trails, but afterwards we went to Montross Brewery and had a great time there as well. Wonderful place to go!

This trail is full of beauty and beautiful views. Its 100% worth it. About 4.1 miles from start all the way to the river walk, longer if you see the tree as well. The pond trail has some lovely views as well. It's a wonderful way to spend a few hours. I do wish there was a bench or two along the creek to sit and enjoy the flowing water. This trail is NOT flat. This trail is NOT stroller friendly, only parts would be bike friendly. This trail is NOT wide in all spots. Enjoy!

Well maintained and cared for hiking area. Clearly marked trails. Great views at the viewpoints. At the end of the 4.1 out and back trails there's a beaver dam under the bridge. I recommend being quite to possibly see a beaver. For most of the trail there is views of the river to take in. This is hilly in the beginning, but evens out once you're at the river. If you're in the area and want a nice quick hike I can't recommend this one enough
