Warrior's Path is a beautiful state park and awesome campground that is also home to one of the best playgrounds we have ever been to, at least according to my 5 y/o.
We have camped here two summers in a row now and both times we extended our stay because we didn't want to leave! The campground is gorgeous and well maintained with plenty of spacious, clean bathrooms and showers. The campsites range between very small - big enough for basically a small tent - to large enough for a 35ft RV with room to spare. They all have picnic tables and fire pits and, from what I could tell, most of them have shade. The state park's reservations page has helpful information about each site so you can better decide which one will suit your needs the best. Or just give them a call to make your reservation; all of the staff that we have interacted with have been friendly and helpful and willing to go out of their way to assist you, even after normal hours.
At one end of the park there is a huge, well maintained playground with all kinds of jungle gyms and other play equipment, a large tree house, a sand pit with diggers and sifters, a talking, interactive Braille trail with child-size scenes from Narnia, and so much more. And, unlike most modern playgrounds, there is shade over much of it.
There is also a second, smaller playground inside the campground that is well-maintained. Unfortunately, it lacks the shade trees of the larger playground and can get quite hot during the summer.
Both times we've camped here there have been other families with kids close to my son's age that he got along well with and enjoyed playing with. But there have also been retirees and college students and everything in between, most of whom have seemed friendly and respectful of other campers.
On our most recent stay in mid June 2019, we saw an array of different birds including a large number of cardinals (both male and female), deer, and, much to our dog's delight, lots of chipmunks and squirrels. One evening we were even treated to a spectacular firefly show at dusk . I hadn't seen that many fireflies at once since I was a little kid growing up in Northeast Florida and I'm not sure who was more excited, me or my son! I'm so glad that my son got to experience it.
We haven't gotten the chance to explore much of the hiking or mountain biking trail system but what we have been on was well-maintained and beautiful. There are also a fair number of geocaches if that's your thing.
Other things that this stage park has to offer include a large outdoor pool, horse stables, disc golf, and an 18-hole golf course. Neither golf nor riding is really my thing, but I sure would like to go for a swim in the pool next time. Perhaps we'll also get the chance to rent a canoe from the marina and go for a ride along the river or attend one of the many classes they have to offer.
All in all, this is a beautiful state park with friendly staff, a really nice campground, an awesome playground, and so much more. I'm already looking forward to...
Read moreSo since we checked in a few hours early we had to pay for that day like the day before or this makes any sense ? So when you come here make sure you check in exactly at 4:00 or after because if not they will charge you an extra night... Then when you leave you got to be out of here and have out of your site by noon ... Or you have to pay for another day .. this here Park is mostly for people with RVs cuz that's all you see here barely any tent campers.. they do have some discount online but you have to show proof of these discount such as handicap Tennessee resident military or disabled.. And you can only use one of those.. You cannot use any promo codes with those... The sites are mostly for RVs only not tent so with that in mind it is very cramped over campground there's maybe a few bath houses two or three for the whole campground has to share... There is no public swimming pool they did not fix it up instead they turn the overflow into an RV resort park.. with my disability discount I stayed for four nights for $140.. for that include water at the site and electric and we pitched a tent on the concrete slab well you're supposed to park your RV ... Other than you're near many things to drive to lake Walmart stores a laundromat is right down the road We did hear a train in the middle of the night and a lot of people had dogs out some of them had their dogs in the leash I guess it's who you know is who was allowed to have a dog without a leash... We did encounter some spiders here's a picture of it but we will not stay here again because of...
Read moreWe reserved our campsite months in advance. We pulled into the state park and saw a sign saying camper registration straight ahead. We drove on looking for another sign to direct us on where to sign in for our campsite. Sore a compass with a golf cart driving up I tried to flag them down and you just drove past me. The next thing we knew we were out of the state park driving through a neighborhood with a 30 ft motorhome towing a jeep. We sore a Park employee and a pickup truck arriving the other way, I tried flagging him down to get directions but he ignored us and drove past us. We then drove back into the state park pulled over onto the side of the road and unhooked the Jeep and drove to the The visitor Center to ask where do we go? She said you should have gotten directions in your email so I showed her the directions that was sent to us. She said wow that's not good at all it doesn't even show you which campgrounds you are in. She gave us directions to our campsite but she did not explain that we should have came in the loop the opposite way so would back into our site. Unreal. Not a great way to start a campground stay. We saw a placard sign saying Park information, so we went to check on hiking trails but all that was posted there was rules and regulations about the park. The hiking trails aren't well maintained. There is no laundry facilities...
