Great place to see birds and other wildlife. A quiet oasis in the dry San Luis valley. Visitor center was not open when I was there so I have no idea about that. Easy access to the parking lot and trail. Seems like a self-serve kind of place, great for birders or a walk.

Stopped by hoping to see wildlife or some birds. Nothing there except a few ducks. Maybe worth a picture or two.

It's small but teeming with wildlife. I loved driving around and just enjoying nature when I loved in Alamosa

We where here feb15th and really nothing there at all, i think it was still a bit early for the birds to be coming through. There is a visitor center but it was closed but the bathrooms were open. There is a 2 mile one way loop you can drive to see different parts of the area. There are signs along the way talking about the different birds that visit the area. There is also a hiking travel but we did not take it. There are great views of the mountains. I will go back more in the spring time when the birds...

This is a quick off-road experience you can do to relax while you're on a road trip. This time of year we didn't see a lot of wildlife when we were there about 4:30 pm. We saw a porcupine, a couple of ducks, and several Hawks hunting. There are a lot of wetlands and grassy areas. The backdrop is beautiful with mountains. We did not do the nature trail. We just did...

Great place to see wetlands in this area. There is a 2 mi hiking trail and a 3.5 mi auto trail, follows the river. Rio Grande goes through here, but it is relatively small. We saw birds, small mammels, large game, one snake that disappeared as we approached. Has info signs along the way. We went late afternoon, visitor center is closed. Quiet tranquil place with...
