Alamosa National Wildlife Refuge and Visitor Center — Attraction in Colorado

We where here feb15th and really nothing there at all, i think it was still a bit early for the birds to be coming through. There is a visitor center but it was closed but the bathrooms were open. There is a 2 mile one way loop you can drive to see different parts of the area. There are signs along the way talking about the different birds that visit the area. This is a quick off-road experience you can do to relax while you're on a road trip. This time of year we didn't see a lot of wildlife when we were there about 4:30 pm. Great place to see wetlands in this area. There is a 2 mi hiking trail and a 3.5 mi auto trail, follows the river. Rio Grande goes through here, but it is relatively small.
