A nice trail with varying degrees of sunshine and shade. We went on 7/30/18 and apparently it has been very dry in this area, as Buckles Lake and the other lake about a mile beyond it (Harris Lake) were very low. We went to try to catch trout, but there were no signs of any fish activity today between 10am-Noon. LIkely the lakes are too low, but it was pretty scenery anyway and we enjoyed sharing both lakes with the mountain cows.    Read moreFrom this trail head you can hike to Buckles and then Harris Lake or take the V-Rock trail up to another trail(i am blanking on the name right now) to start a good backpacking trip. I have done both. The Lakes are gorgeous and the hike is easy with little elevation change. V-Rock trail is steep for the first mile and half before leveling out on a wooded ridge line.    Read moreNice easy hike through a Birch forest to the first Buckles Lake. Buckles Lake is an open area where cows and other wildlife roam. It is open, so lots of sun! If you follow the trail it will take you to Harris Lake. Harris Lake is a larger but shallow lake in compared to Buckles Lake. The trip from Buckles to Harris goes through a predominantly Birch forest. Arriving at Harris there were two Elk and some waterfowl.
