The Wibit park is not safe or fun for pre-teen kids. Mine were six and nine and really disappointed. It's a full contact, push and tackle "American Gladiator" craze for high schoolers and adults. I did ask the life guards and they told me they can't really control the behavior of the crowds beyond enforcing the basic no shoes and no diving rules. My kids were really disappointed since we'd called ahead and heard kids six and over were welcome. We could barely climb the ladders as full grown visitors were continuously thrown overboard at the entry points on to us. It would be neat if there was a "family hour" with safer rules because the structure itself is really neat! It's just the out of control football style tackling and shoving that makes actually using the Wibit features...

Caught the last days of the inflatable obstacle course and the kids loved it. You must wear a life jacket to use the inflatables and jackets are available onsite on a first come/first served basis. This year they were free, but I was told there will be a charge next year. If you have your own, you should bring it. Great area for kayaking, paddle boards and floating as well. There is a large swim beach and just beyond that is a picnic area and small beach where non-motorized watercraft can launch. It was very busy Labor Day weekend and by noon they were only letting in vehicles if another left. Also note that there is no grilling allowed, so don't plan on cooking up hamburgers and hot dogs for...

This reservoir will be great- in about ten years. Currently the reservoir is just recently filled, the shore is eroding and collapsing and dangerous, there are no beaches or shade, and the boat ramp is not (as of Late July 2018) finished yet. If you can get out on the water, or navigate the many snags on the shore, the fishing is rumored to be fantastic. Once the ramp opens the boating will be good. The reservoir is windy.

... City of Durango, please build a beach and some pavilions here so people can enjoy the lake ... and finish the boat ramp and facilities before you start taking people’s money at the gate! Lake Nighthorse is...

Beautiful lake with a really nice hang out location for families. We went on 4th of July to grill dinner and paddle board and we were surprised by the wibid and the life jackets that were free to use! The swim area is securely marked off to keep it safe, and the lifeguards on duty makes it even more enjoyable for families! Our kids loved that there was a clean, safe place to put the paddle boards in, which isn’t true of all lakes. The whole area was clean-beach, Ramada’s, tables, water, etc. Everyone working was also very friendly!

We are local Durango residents and this is one of our favorite summer spots. The Wibit is incredible, although isn't forgiving to injuries so tread lightly. Also a great spot for an amazing mountain beach day, including SUP and kayaking. I'm a swimmer and like using the buoys on the no-wake side of the lake to get in my open water swims in as well. Go get it!
