If you’re looking for a dog-friendly trail that’s perfect for all seasons, Bear Creek to Burn Bluff Loop at Little Park is the place to be! We had an amazing time hiking here with our furry friends.

Crowds and Space

First off, this trail is popular, especially in mid-June. Earlier this year in February, it was almost empty, but this time we saw everything from large adventure groups of kids to fellow dog owners. If your dog is reactive, be prepared for the crowds. That said, the trail offers plenty of space to pull off and let others pass. The grass is tall but the ground is flat, making it easy to step aside. Even though the trail can be narrow at times, we never felt cramped or had to fight for walking space.

Natural Beauty and Wildlife

We were treated to some beautiful butterfly sightings during our hike. We saw an orange Monarch, a yellow Clouded Sulphur, and a small bright pastel purple Spring Azure. Did you know? My boyfriend mentioned that yellow butterflies symbolize luck, which added a fun touch to our adventure.

Cool and Shaded Trail

The trail follows a creek, which keeps the area cool and shaded—a blessing on a sunny, 85-degree day. With minimal elevation gain (only 135 feet), it’s a relatively easy hike that won’t leave you out of breath or fatigued. The dogs loved swimming and playing in the water, making it an ideal spot for pet owners.

Parking

Parking was a bit tricky as the lot was being evened out when we arrived. We had to park along the entrance road, where there were only two cars at 9:30 AM. By the time we left at 11:30 AM, the area was packed with cars. Hopefully, the parking situation will improve once the lot is fully operational.

Overall Experience

This trail is a 10/10 for dog owners and outdoor enthusiasts alike. The combination of beautiful scenery, shaded paths, and a refreshing creek makes it a must-visit. We received numerous compliments on how well-behaved and cute our pack was, and the dogs were relaxed and happy throughout the hike.

We’ll definitely be returning to Bear Creek to Burn Bluff Loop many, many times! It’s perfect for all seasons and a fantastic outing for you and your furry friends.

I love Little park! But if you see a family sitting and enjoying the area please keep to your own space. I cant tell you how many people and their dogs we have had barg into our area and just hang out. please keep moving and find your own spot. We come up to rest and relax. Not to have stangers barge in and let their wet dogs run all over our...

Catch it on the off hours and it's a nice place to chill and rest when the weather is not bad. This particular visit made me very happy because somebody's dog, I'm not quite sure whose decided he or she needed to visit, with which I was in full...

This is our secret little hideaway. It's hidden off the road, so we can usually find a parking spot. There is a historical water shed that was built in 1913. We go there for a picnic and a little bit of nature. Love it.

lovely little park, connects with bear creek! Compost toilet available, tends to attract families as the terrain is flat and the trail is fairly wide! The creek is beautiful :-)
